New Zealand cuisine is recommended to try at this restaurant. You can share nicely cooked fish, fish & chips and potato chips with your friends and have a good time here. At Wilson Road Fish Shop, you can order a takeaway. The success of this place would be impossible without the professional staff. Fast service is something that guests highlight in their reviews. But google users rated this spot and it didn't earn a high rating.

Great crumbed snapper, tasted fresh as could be. Chips were nice but the wedges were great and crispy. Good serving size, the mussel fritter seemed like the mussels had been blended or minced, would have preferred them to have bigger bits. Crab sticks were great and so was the mussels.
Worst fish and chips I've ever had. Amongst the ok chips the fish and potato fritter were just a mushy blended up greasy mess. Had to use a fork as the fish just fell apart in greasy blobs. Their chinese food looked ok, just avoid the fried food. Service Take out Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
Really disappointing for what we paid for at 40.00 fish and chips for four bottle sprite . The fish was not fresh Chips were not crisp The batter was greasy and not crispy. Definitely won't be going there again. Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–40 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

Fish n Chips and Chinese takeaways on Wilson Road, Waihi. They have some specials to choose from at the bottom of the menu. Ordered and waited for about 10 mins. You can also ring ahead to order. Chips, nuggets and hot dogs were lovely. The Tarakihi in the special combos were ok. Reasonable portions
Snapper fillets were $8. 50 each for that i would have expected a whole fillet not sliced vertically across the fillet making it very thin, I didnt see black lines so doubt it was even snapper. Seemed fresh though also there was very little flavor in the fish which indercates that the fish was washed in fresh water. The batter was lovely golden and thin. I'm an ex commercial fisherman so know what I'm talking about when it comes to fish. The kumara chunks where tasty but alitte undercooked. All in all my partner and I were very disappointed we just wanted a beautiful fat snapper fillet. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Young Asian girl had the worst sour I don't wanna be here look when she served us. (Understandable it's new years day) Ordered tarakihi defitnely was not tarakihi possibly shark or gurnad. Annoying that I paid extra for that. Scoop of chips was barely a scoop maybe 1/4. Only good thing was there was a sauce packet inside. Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
Spent $33.00 for 3 fish 2 crab sticks and a scoop of chips well the whole lot went to the birds the next day what has happened to the lovely crisp batter, white thick juicy fish and the fat chips the fish was soggy the chips are now bordering on a medium sort of shoestring also soggy and the fish was not fresh mind you I should have known something wasn't right as only 3 people in the shop 6.30 on a Friday night won't be back work in hospitality will be putting it out there your fish and chip shop is one to avoid at all costs Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
Seating outside on sturdy seats able to hold my weight, with cheap combos such as 3 fish, 3 potato fritters and a scoop of chips for $17. They still use newspaper to wrap up the chips and will gladly take clean newspapers. Potato fritters were huge, fish were very fresh. Handy to the gift shops and the beach, well worth the visit.
Overpriced, $2 for crab stick with flour on it (under mixed batter?). $6 piece of “Terakihi”The worst fish I’ve ever eaten, frozen or old...? Thick oily batter. Wouldn’t sell us 1/2 scoop of chips, had to buy whole scoop so went without. It’s such a shame the one and only fish & chip shop in town is rubbish...
Food was ok but nothing special, just your average fish and chips. Price are, however, really inflated. Paid over $40 for 2 people’s worth of food, 2 scoops of chips and 2 fish! Not worth the price Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
