We decided on Indian for our Sunday dinner. We were warmly welcomed at the door and had our pick of seating. Well looked after restaurant and clean. My brother and I had the butter chicken and the lamb palak which were both incredibly delicious and served steaming hot. Both came with a serving of rice and of course we had to get a garlic naan as well. We were the only people dining in the restaurant, so hence the lack of atmosphere, however still a wonderful dining experience and will definitely be back to try other dishes! We were a large and complicated group of diners: vegans, vegetarians, msg allergic, hard of hearing and one person nervous about very hot spice. Vikrams managed to satisfy everyone! Authentic Indian experience. The restaurant boasts elegant decor, spacious table settings and astonishingly comfortable chairs. The food was tasty and in generous quantities. We enjoyed watching the chef working the tandoor ovens. It was very affordable for a party of 7 who ate individually prepared vegetarian, chicken and lamb main courses, extra naan bread varieties plus a few starters AND desserts AND 2 bottles of wine and sundry light beverages - the bill was under R2000 for 7! Cheaper than taking everyone to a franchised restaurant with mass produced burgers and much more original. Lots of secure parking. Highly recommended. The new Vikrams is open and the food outstanding as always. Hidden Joburg gem - look no further for diverse, flavourful currie and Indian dishes. Firm favourite for many years. We saw the great reviews on the food. We decided to give this place a try. We bought quite a bit of food for takeaway. The prawns was tiny. The flavour was just not great in any of the curries we tried. The only item that was good was the Naan and parathas. Definitely a pass on this restaurant for me. Easily one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever visited. Prime location, can be easily spotted, amazing sitting spacing, decor was excellent, service was top-notch, starters to main course - each and every dish was delicious and great ... love how Indian culture is promoted through art, paintings, info in menu and of course the amazing food. This is a must-visit !!!

I ordered from them tonight through Mr Delivery. The food was awful! Premium priced for low quality. I had prawn curry, the prawns were mushy, soft and sickening. I threw it in the bin along with my hard earned cash. Such a waste. Food: 1

Thank you for your prompt response Mr Vikram. I have revised my rating. I still feel the situation should have been handled better. It just felt like something fishy was going on and I wanted to let you know. I felt the manager was not presentable as a manager, he didnt even have a badge or anything that distinguished him from the other waiters. Thus I did not feel comfortable continuing with the transaction and I was already on my way out of the restuarant when he approached us to 'make a plan' I would like to make the owners aware of my experience at Vikram's. We were met at the door by one of the waiters. I requested a table for four. The waiter showed us in and said we can select a table. After we sat down, the waiter brought us the menu within a few minutes. Only at this time did he he inform us that there was a problem with their credit card machine and we would have to pay cash. I complained why we werent told this before we were seated. There was no response to this. We proceeded to leave the restuarant at which point the manager came and told us that they will make a plan. I found all this very odd to say the least. Firstly, we should have been informed at the door when we entered, secondly if they could make a plan then why tell clients there is a problem. Thirdly in this day and age of technology, where most establishments are going cashless, here's one that asks for cash instead??? Should the owner's wish to verify this incident they can post their direct contact details in response to this review and I will make contact.. Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Food is great but service is slow as other reviewers have stated. Forgot about our order which was apparently going to be ready in 10min half an hour ago. Now told that we have to wait for someone else's large order to be ready before our veg biryani for one is ready. Second time that we're experiencing this - waited an hour for our food the last time. I ordered a mutton bunny from this restaurant. It was the worst ever. The bunny was extremely dry and the curry was wattery. The meat was shredded than actual pieces, hardly any meat. The salad was the tiniest coleslaw filled with onions Food: 1
