Best place for crab curry with roast paan and pol sambal. The place is run down and doesn't look welcoming. But it's under renovation as well. But the food is amazing. Service is also good. They have liquor as well.

New rest house is a historical place in Negombo right next to the negombo Fort ground. Their food is excellent, they serve alcohol and beer, and the prices are affordable. This place has an antique ambiance so don't except it to be your posh restaurant but this place also will cater all your needs. I've added the menu for liquor and food ( by April 2023 - these can change in future ).. A must go place. Service Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

The room was quite dirty, the mattresses extremely thin on wooden boards and uncomfortable, and considering the location the price wasn't appropriate. The man who welcomed us was nice and offered us tea when we left.

One of Negombo’s iconic and oldest place. Super awesome food. It’s super delicious and large portions. Prices are very reasonable. Their Rice and Curry is just Rs. 900 + S.C. Only downside is service levels. We had to wait 30 mnts to get 2 beer bottles and another 30 mnts to receive our food 😇 Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Recommended dishes Fish Rice & Curry

A building of colonial era. Dining here will gives you a different experience compared to other bars and restaurants. The fishy smell is normal in the area since this is situated by sea and fish drying yards. Reasonable prices and big portions of dishes. Separate area for families. One of the oldest place in Negombo sea shore to enjoy a chill 🍺 Don't expect much from the staff. Though they can walk to the fish market to buy fresh fish, they'll tell you it is from Colombo ....🤣🤣🤣 if you order devilled fish, they'll bring you fried whole fish n when asked to correct it, they'll devilled the whole fried fish 🐟 🔥😈😎🤑😧 But the beer is fantastic ! Ask for "Lion Lager" the only locally produced beer in Sri Lanka

New Rest House Negombo is so different experience from other restaurants. You will smell fish market which is not that bad and that is common in that area you might not complain about it I am sure. Place is very old but they handled it to a level which suitable for a restaurant. Food was tasty and the portions are more than enough for the pay. Better to go for sea food options in this restaurant and they serve their fresh. A bar also their and that is not modern look and obviously old fashioned. Staff is very friendly and overall the food is the main satisfaction there.
