Our first date night - Saturday 20th - for 2024. Staff were friendly and most helpful. Service was impeccable by young lass who served us. A tip was definitely worth giving. Interior of premises amazing. Food delicious 😋 steak was cooked perfectly. Thank you chef. Great place to dine for All ages. Great view for upstairs dinners. Prices very reasonable. Mocktails most refreshing for the non drinker. Check The Thirsty Whale out if visiting the Bay. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Adore Collection

We like The Thirsty for several reasons - good menu range for a variety of tastes, good, friendly and effecient service and the location. We were lucky enough to get a table on the deck and watch the sunset over drinks and dinner. We had dinner. The menu is pretty standard along with the quality of the food which was above average. The service was a mixed bag, good and nasty. The positive thing about this place is the affordable price. I had 2 mains and a desert with 2 craft beers for $99. I may come back.. Excellent tasting food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, will definitely go back again for dinner. Highly recommended. Visited here with my wife and daughter, we all had something different for Dinner. I had oxtail stew, it was cooked to perfection, and tasted amazing. My wife had fish of the day, which she said was delicious. My daughter had roast pork, she loved it. I visit Napier a few times a year, we will definitely be returning to The Thirsty Whale. The food was average... my main wasn't as the menu stated. A large table and garlic bread for the table was ordered and pizza bread was served. Granted, It was a busy evening. Art Deco Saturday; it should of been better prepared to serve the menu. Service was good - kitchen, not so much. Absolutely excellent !! Being from out of town finding this gem was a highlight of our trip to napier! The staff were exceptional and so friendly nothing was an issue, seated and drinks came out promptly. We had the salt and pepper squid for our starter and it was Devine!!!! We eat s&p squid everywhere we go that has it on the menu. We actually base our restaurant choice on if it has it on the menu. We have eaten alot of squid dishes but this one was our very favourite!!!! Absolutely cooked to perfection so buttery melt in the mouth and the way it was done asain inspired was so good and we've never had it this way before with the teriyaki and Japanese mayo WOW! onto the main course I had the seafood chowder which was actually an entree but was sooooooooo delicious and the perfect portion for me with prawns, fish, mussels, salmon and the most velvety creamy sauce it was very good. My fiance had the burger he said was good but needed a special sauce to Amp it up to be amazing. The only negative we could say was it did take a long time to recieve our starter about 40 mins and then about 1hr 15m to recieve our main. However the staff were really apologetic for the wait which went along way for us to be acknowledged. Would highly recommend this restaurant and would be first on our list to stop in next time we are in town thanks again 😊

Staff were very friendly and helpful. One of our party wanted an item from their lunch menu which had just finished but they were willing to do this for him. First time eating here and I have to say, it was definitely one of the best eat out experiences I’ve had here in the bay. Highly recommend, will be one of my regulars now, prices are fair and staff were lovely. Bathroom facilities were very clean. Absolutely loved the mushroom garlic sauce on my steak. Thank yous for a great experience, will be returning again soon with the family, children’s menu looks awesome as well and has something for all kids to enjoy. Also the cheesecake and vanilla ice cream was easily my favourite dessert, I’ve ordered many cheesecakes from other restaurants and none of them compare to thirsty. Service Dine in Meal type Brunch
