It's the friendliest place I've been to in a long time and the food was delicious. I hope they have the prawn special again soon. It was fantastic. It's my kinda place on a Friday night. Our first time there with friends from Oshkosh. Family owned and run with very limited hours, ie Fri night. Atmosphere was casual but pleasant. Server was friendly and efficient. Enjoyed the 2 piece haddock with potato pancakes, my friend had clam chowder, perch, German potato salad, dessert and said, great. Enjoyed 5th ward beer. I had tenderloin steak (medium rare) and shrimp combo. Steak was good--under seasoned but very tender. Shrimp was grilled with garlic butter and served in a separate serving dish. It was good but was drowning in buttery liquid. My boyfriend had walleye that was very good. Service was excellent! Staff was very friendly. Our table was in the front corner that was so dark I had a difficult time reading the menu. Too much buttery cream sauce on a seafood and pasta dish ordered on a previous visit is what kept us from returning to Sherman House sooner. Fish was small and dry, overcooked for sure. Cook should not have let it leave the kitchen. Can't go back and try again, because I found out they pool tips. Servers should keep their tips. Stopped in for the Friday fish and we were not disappointed. Service was friendly and food was very good and portions were decent! A little pricey but everything is these days. Will definitely be back!
