I had a wonderful time at The Gecko. The food was authentic, fresh, and delicious. I tried the sushi platter, the udon soup, salmon salad and the tuna bowl. Everything was well-prepared and beautifully presented. The prices were reasonable. The owner was very friendly and attentive. He greeted me with a smile and explained the menu items to me. He also gave me some recommendations on what to order. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. The restaurant was decorated with many hand crafted bracelets and accessories paintings. I love the loft style design and dining at the top. I highly recommend The Gecko to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine. It is one of the best restaurants in Battambang and a must-visit for travelers. Perfect place to watch sunset at Battambang. Get some food, drink some cocktail and get the sunset experience someday. Gecko has a very big space and is very comfortable to sit and cleanliness is the main point. The food menu and drink menu have provided us with many options and many unique tastes. The location is a bit far from Battambang town is that not a problem for the explore like you. The point is you have to go early to see the beautiful sunset on time. We went to Gecko with our rented mountain bikes. It is a lovely ride a bit outside of the city, would highly recommend. Once there we had a coffee frappe, an iced americano and a cheesecake piece and all was very good. The staff people were also very friendly and interested. The café is also a small cute shop where we also bought some nice Khmer cotton scarf in pretty colors and you can find also some more handmade jewelry and little things, coffee and more. Really enjoyed this place after a morning at Banon train and temple! Quiet, spacious, great, quality food and other locally made items. The menu is not extensive for those who like a lot of options but the burger was delicious. This is definitely one of the cooler places to hang out in Battambang.
