We Had A Party of 5 for a Milestone Birthday Dinner. Food was Excellent from Appetizers to Entrees. Ruthie our Server made us Feel like the Only Table in the Restaurant, she was the best. I visited The Chalet early afternoon just after lunch. Not busy at all. Ruthie, who was my server, seated me and poured me a drink. Not light handed at all with the pour. I orded the crab appetizer with the lemon aoli and it was really good. The only thing i would say is that the parma crisp was cold and tasteless and i didn't think it belonged. Probably big enough for two, though. For my entree i had the meat loaf and it was also very good. The potatoes could've used a little more seasonings but I'm kind of pepper heavy. The beans were excellent. Very well prepared and seasoned. The service was good all around and it didn't break the bank. Will visit again. Was there with a group of people for Dinner and a presentation. Sit up stairs with my friend. The Building is Beautiful and Classy. The food was excellent. With breath taking beautiful presentation of your meal. Reason I gave service 3 stars is my friend ask if she could have another roll the waitress said "No". She ask why. She stated "I'm not allowed." Then also stated . There isn't any more. I did witness them taking them back to kitchen in baskets after passing them out down stairs. So I did say yes they are I seen them take them back. Then she said "I just can't give you any more rolls." You get one. 😳 Steak was cooked to perfection. Had filet. Salad was good. Ranch dressing very good. Dessert was delicious and pretty. Great place to eat and meet. Just don't ask for more rolls. On the afternoon of Tuesday, December 5, as a part of the Lake Cumberland Kentucky Extension Master Gardener Program, I had the opportunity to enjoy lunch at The Chalet in Somerset. Although our group numbered a total of 19 guests, the staff at The Chalet were unfazed by the size of our group, serving not the other diners seated throughout the room effortlessly and in a timely manner, but also our party of 19. In addition to the excellent table-service, the meal presentation and exquisite flavors were top-notch, earning The Chalet a 5 star plus review! If you want a dining experience equivalent to the finest restaurants of Lexington & Louisville, I highly recommend The Chalet in Somerset, KY! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We had made reservations for The Chalet for our Anniversary with high expectations.  We'd heard very good things - not to mention great looking food pics& quaint/refined look of the restaurant.  The menu prices weren't that big of concern as it was a special occasion and we occasionally eat Ruth's Chris, Jeff Ruby's, Tony's of Lexington, etc - so were accustomed to exorbitant prices for really great food...when its merited. -FOOD-   We ordered a Crab cake to start and were met with a piece of art!  Beautifully presented it was almost a shame to eat...almost.  It was delicious & savory and we encountered NO bits of crab shells! which is a big deal tbh.  The remainder of our meal however, was a disappointment.  --My wife got the Fish 'n Chips with asparagus.  The Fish batter was bland (no salt/seasoning) & quite greasy - they hadn't left it to drain the oil off enough - fries were good but they were fries.  --Myself, i ordered a mid-rare Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes.  The steak came well done!...a $50 steak sent well-done.  I had no choice but to send it back for a new one.  When it finally did come back, it was a true mid-rare, but much like my wifes entree...it was bland and lacked seasoning.  Not even a salt-sear on the top/bottom.  The mashed potatoes were in a deceivingly cool creamy design...but again bland with no salt/seasoning. -ATMOSPHERE-  Parking was no issue.  The outside of the restaurant was in a very quaint, shady location.  More like a converted A-frame cabin.  Inside was clean, smelled nice, and again rustic cabin-ish.  The Staff was incredibly nice.  We were first seated on the upper balcony, however the cold air unit vent was blowing directly onto our table/food, so we were re-seated downstairs w/no issue.  Refills were prompt & greetings were plentiful.  5 stars in this regard!! -Overall, we had very high expectations for a very important date - and came away disappointed tbh.  I always look forward to rewarding good local businesses that are not a chain with great reviews.  I was excited at the prospect of a fine-dining restaraunt so close to London - but can't fully recommend The Chalet.  The ambiance they created and the pricing standard they put forth - just do not live up to the hype. We went to The Chalet in Somerset last night to have a wedding anniversary dinner. Everything was magnificent- the venue, service, presentation and food! We are fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber in Somerset. It easily beats some of the 5-star Michelin restaurants where I’ve dined. We will definitely be going back! ❤️ Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Local, French & Quaint We spent valentines evening this year at The Chalet Gourmet & it was a perfect decision for a romantic evening. Not sure what the venue was before becoming a restaurant but it was gorgeous both inside and out. Great place for a small reception. When it comes to the food there were some highs and lows: Bread: personally I didn’t enjoy the bread, my wife did. The waiter came and mixed Parmesan cheese and olive oil at our table to dip in. My wife ordered a side chalet salad and it was not good, but i am an iceberg/romaine lettuce guy, this was mostly arugula and other leafs. I ordered the beef Wellington & it was cooked to perfection. The fillet could have been seasoned more, they relied a little to much on the other flavors to carry the dish. The breading and gravy was fantastic. My scalloped potato’s were also delicious. My wife really enjoyed her salmon, it tasted extremely fresh and was skinless which was nice to see. For dessert I had the crème brûlée, it left some to be desired. Wife had the special Valentine’s Day dessert and it was GREAT! It should be on the menu every day. Great service, beautiful location and the closest we will be to authentic French food for the next couple of years. They even brought us a rose and complementary chocolate with our bill. Check this place out! *** may be a little “nit-picky” but the waiters used phone like devices to take our order, very efficient… but this is a high class restaurant that was not cheap, they should use a more elegant form of note taking to collect orders. I don’t mind paying a luxury if it is funding the food, but not the phone like devices. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Recommended dishes Beef Wellington
