It's just a nice little seafood place in the area. Was in town for an event at the local Marriott, and it took me a while to find this place, as their listing is not very clear on Yelp. It's much better on other platforms. We had nine of us, and we ordered most of the items on the menu. Great all-around seafood options. I went with the grilled captains seafood platter, shrimp, scallops, and Haddock. some of the others went with lobster rolls and others with fish dishes. I started with the Calamari, which was just perfectly fried. Clam strips and an order crab rangoon. nicely fried in a fresh oil and not really loving the crab Rangoon.
Then, an order of clam chowder. Needed something. It could have used a little more flavor and more clams. Our wait staff was excellent! made sure we had everything our large party needed and a full restaurant.

If other reviews of long wait times have put you off, go a little later. When my husband and I were seated around 7pm, many tables started opening up and there was no wait behind us. That said, the food was every bit worth the wait. I had a daily special of swordfish and I’m hoping they have it next time we go. Everything was perfectly cooked. It’s not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Obviously, it’s popular for a reason. The staff may have been overwhelmed at moments with the flood of take out orders, but they were patient and helpful throughout.

Place is poorly run and managed. Was told the wait for two was thirty minutes. Waited an hour and ten to be seated before we finally left. What I observed while waiting….preferential treatment given to locals/regulars who get bumped up the list with zero regard for others who have been waiting. The teenager managing the line was distracted and completely incompetent. Counter staff seemed miserable. Lots of staff standing around doing nothing. Bussers took 20 minutes to bus a single table all the while the line is out the door. Wish I had the opportunity to rate the food but won’t be back to give it another chance.
Good food, more than just fried fish options, yummy cornbread served warm when you are seated, excellent service, bright, nautical atmosphere, perfect portion size, good value.

Food is great but the service is lacking. The staff was clearly "phoning it in" last night. The place was busy but the staff wasn't. No hustle, no sense of urgency, no hospitality mindset. We waited for our takeout and it took much longer (like 20 min longer) than they told us it would. Despite asking a couple of times about the status, we didn't get a new estimate or a "things are busy tonight", or a "sorry it's taking a while" - we just got a "not ready".

I have to write a review on this restaurant we visited tonight with great expectations for a seafood experience. My wife wanted fried shrimp so she found this seafood restaurant in Wellesley that had great reviews and I had hope because they have their own market, similar to Fishermen’s View on the cape, which is par none outside of Lousiana seafood, though Boston Sail Loft is also likewise excellent.
I called to make a reservation, the hostess told us they don’t make reservations but tables were open. We drove about all 30 minutes to get there. When we arrived, it was packed, which reassured us that we were in for a treat, or though it would seem. There were lines out the door for pick up. We found a table and we were brought menus. The waiter was a young man, so I didn’t expect much, and he didn’t disappoint. Menus were brought and were simple, and I like that. I ordered a coffee after a long day in clinic and Yuci ordered a water. I ordered the broiled seafood platter with French fries and coleslaw for $24 and my wife ordered the fried shrimp with this veggie blend and coleslaw for $19. The prices seemed reasonable assuming they plates would be well prepared. Our meals took almost 30 minutes to prepare and the foot traffic was really impressive. It was nonstop.
My coffee came luke warm and old. Mind you, the kitchen was ten feet away and I could see the coffee station. Our waiter never once checked on us after he brought the drinks until he brought the food. Mind you, he wasn’t busy, he just stood about 10 feet away and stood still. I kept trying to get a glance from any staff hoping to get a fresh cup of coffee but if you caught their eyes they just looked away.
When he showed up with our food, he offered no napkins, no sauces, no nothing. I asked for sauces and he brought one little cup of each. He was a young kid so I figured he was a family member of the leadership figuring it out. I was there for the food that everyone was in line for.
The plates were small … very small. My broiled seafood had this weird batter on it, as if they just baked what they would have fried in the same batter, only it was burnt on the top and wet mush on the bottom. The shrimp, all three of them, were over cooked, rubbery, and old. The piece of fish was maybe 4” and there were about 5 little scallops. It was bland and very disappointing. Yuci’s plate came with a veggie she didn’t order, a veggie that wasn’t even on the menu. They made the change without asking us. The only seasoning was in the batter, and to keep it consistent, her shrimp were over cooked.
It was a terrible experience and I felt sorrow and sadness for the people who filled this place realizing that they think this is good. It was awful from start to finish.
If you hear about this little place, just keep driving. It is not good. Keep traveling into Boston and experience the Boston Sail Loft or take a journey out to the cape and experience the Fisherman’s View in Sandwich.
I don’t like to insult ever, but Wendy’s would have been a better choice. Sorry for the harsh review, I try to be positive but this place offered no opportunity. Anyone who says it is just has sadness and no understanding of what seafood is supposed to be. If this place wants to be good, even decent, they have a lot of changes they need to make.
Got 2 lobster rolls for $29 each. It was the smallest lobster roll I have ever seen, much shorter than a hotdog roll. The fries were slightly warm room temperature room. Some of the lobster was very slimy?? The rest did not taste like lobster at all.
What a gem in Wellesley. 1.5lb lobster for $23! Staffs were super nice. Foods were delicious. It got crowded past 7pm and parking was full. I really liked my shrimp linguini - the shrimps were sautéed to perfection. Will try fried items next time so stay tuned for my updated review!
Tried the fresh lobster both steamed and stuffed. The clam chowder and seafood chowder tasted great. Service was great and prices were reasonable. Definitely this is one of the best seafood restaurants outside Boston.
