The food was spectacular and the wine just as good. The service was very friendly and attentive. Only negative was that the wine tasting area felt a bit overcrowded. We waited up to 15mins between each tasting as the staff were too busy with other tables. But it was well worth it.

Wonderful dining experience. The food is cooked to perfection. We chose the a la carte menu instead of the “chef’s specials” for more flexibility. The snapper is so tender and fresh. The service is exceptional. The matching wines are served right on time for each course. The surrounding scenery is as idyllic as it can be, like a scene in a movie. There are many nice restaurants on the island. This is one of the best if not the best.

If you have only time to visit one place make sure it's the gorgeous Tantalus Estate. Be sure to make a reservation for lunch, but also, save time to do a tasting at their cellar door, maybe try a few craft beers, walk around their sprawling estate - including a path down through their wetlands. You could spend hours here. When you're all done, take the shortcut through the vineyard gates and check out Stonyridge next door for an altogether different vibe. Really enjoyed their starters, particularly their estate grown roasted honey macadamia nuts - they're so good I wish I could stock up on these to go! You can tell Tantalus takes good care of their staff by just how happy they are and how excellent their service is. Sam served us as we dined and honestly we had no better service anywhere else in NZ!

My husband and I got married at Tantalus in November of 2023. It was an amazing experience. The staff were so helpful leading up to and during the wedding. A special thanks to Hannah and Constantine who made everything run smoothly on the day. The food was delicious and many of our guests commented on the efficiency and helpfulness of the staff. Could not be happier. Thank you again! 🤍🤍

The food is exquisite, complemented by a diverse wine selection, showcasing the region's finest. A must-visit for a delightful culinary and oenophilic experience.

Truly one of the best dining experiences my husband & I have ever had, and we have been to our fair share of nice restaurants -- the breathtaking views from our table, the friendly staff, the Michelin star quality food, the dietary accommodations (I'm vegetarian, and my husband is severely allergic to all nuts), and let's not forget the wine. Truly divine. We will be back!

We only had time for 3 wineries and this was by far the most welcoming, best service team (Felix & a young lady) as well as the best food! We will definitely be back and will be telling anyone that does the hop on & off tour to go straight to Tantalus.

Beautiful location. We went for a tasting but they busy. We grabbed a beer and a rose at a nice outdoor table. Both were great. But we could not have a tasting there. The tasting area was in a confined space near the entry and it did not look like we would have a nice experience so we pasted on the tasting. They have a gorgeous estate. If you go, try the macadamia nuts - fantastic!
Tantalus Estate is set on a beautiful property on Waihiki island. It has incredible modern architecture. We did not dine but the menu looked amazing and I overheard others say how good the food was. We took a wine tasting. You can do a $20 or $30 tasting for 3 or 4 tastes. We were able to interchange if you prefer. I swapped a Rose on the $20 list for a Red on the $30 list. Our hostess who showed us , Wendy Scott was so knowledgeable, friendly, patient and considerate. All the wines were excellent in our opinions but maybe a little pricey The cost to ship to Australia was outrageous. They would do really well if Australians could buy it from a wine store in Australia
