Legend has it that Taco Casa has been feeding Tuscaloosa people since 1974, a staple in the college community here. If you know me, you know I love exploring new places to eat, especially if it’s tacos or BBQ. So off I went 3 hours to dine in and this place was packed like a Chic-fil-A!! Keeping things simple, I chose the Combo #1 beef which included a hard shell taco, beef enchilada covered in queso, refried beans, rice and chips. Their sweet tea is a highly recommended drink and it didn’t disappoint. The combo, however, left a bit to be desired IMO. 3.8/5⭐️ Nothing I‘d drive 3 hours again for but if you’re ever in Tuscaloosa, AL it’s worth a stop. 1st time eating here and it was Good. We had lots of food for the price and service was friendly and not to fast. The taco salad was the best because the taco bowl was so Fresh and crispy. I was on a road trip in the South, and we were looking for a taco truck off this freeway exit and didn't find it. I usually don't eat fast food. I'm also from Northern California where my hometown in some places has 4 places to get great tacos and burritos in one block. Unfortunately, what I ordered from here was basically inedible - chips and queso, and my co-pilot had a combo plate. The chicken taco was edible, but the rice was very undercooked. I was pretty hungry, and I think of myself as an eater - I enjoy eating - versus a foodie which implies a certain level of snobbery. The chips were bland and just weren't worth the carbs (I'm diabetic), and the beefy queso was greasy and didn't taste much like nacho cheese. I thought nachos would have ground beef plus cheese and other fixins on top, but it's just chips plus a small container of queso with beef in it. Very nice place to eat. I ordered the hard shell extra hot taco. I ordered 5 tacos and a medium sweet tea. I really enjoyed the food. It is made when you order it. The food is not pre wrapped and served to you. I give this lunch break 5 thumbs up. 👍👍👍👍👍 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This location… Had to work in Tuscaloosa today and was stopped by. I e been to this one before and it never fails. Tacos were fat! I ate two hard and two soft.. They were delicious. Staff was great! Hands down the best location. Taco casa has the BEAT hot sauce too!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

If you are expecting Mexican food this is NOT your place. It sucks more than Taco Bell and there is not a Mexican or a Spanish word in the building. Don’t waste your money.

I had the worst experience ever. It all started when I got my order which was a small messe, peppers on the side, side of sour cream, a soft taco no sauce no lettuce. Both was dripping grease left and right. Call and spoke with an manager she stated she was going to put it in the book to remake list. Guess what it never happen. I arrive back to Taco Casa on an later date. My order wasn’t put on the remake list. The manager on duty was rude, the drive through worker was rude. I got my order finally no peppers in the bag, no napkins or silverware in the bag. I inform the drive through worker and he just look at me. I told him to keep the food. Now I use to work at Taco Casa and I see a lot has change since I left this is and disappointment. A waste of money. I always like to try the small regional restaurant groups when I'm on the road. Unfortunately, this was not the success story I had hoped for. The burritos I ordered were wrapped in clear plastic and then the usual waxed paper. I had to struggle to get them out of the plastic wrapping so much that it was almost impossible, and then the disappointment of the food product manifested itself. Not the most professional nor knowledgeable staff - they've often answered incorrectly on how much meat actually comes with something and they have no idea how many calories are in ANY of the items by their own admission. They also just ignore you until your ticket number is called. Feels like a mcdonalds. That said the food is very tasty, served quickly, and not too expensive. I love the burritos.
