Always wanted to give this restaurant a try, but it was always too crowded ( the best Vietnamese eatery in Rotorua according to locals). Today, I've decided to order the "Beef and Onion on rice" to takeaway for the first time. This immediately became one of my favourite restaurant in Rotorua. The food was great, spicy with fast and lovely service. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was soo good. I would definitely be going back. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We ordered a beef rice noodle, spicy lemongrass noodle, Baguette, spring roll and pancake with coffees. The baguette is fantastic. The noodles are overall a bit sweet but it’s better with chillies. Coffees are pretty okay. Recommend this place!

The pho soup is a bit sweet. They don’t serve with lime nor basil. I asked for lime but since they don’t hv, she gave me lemon instead. After adding ground chili and lemon juice, it’s perfect. The beef is very tender and tasty. The pho broth is boiled with only cow bones, no pork bones. So Muslim can eat. 📍Saigon’60S Originally, we planned to have Japanese food for lunch, but since we arrived late, we ended up finding a Vietnamese restaurant on the roadside. 🍗Lemongrass chicken with rice Taste 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑 🏮Review🏮The chicken was a bit tough, which affected the overall taste, and the flavor was also on the milder side. 🐮Beef Pho Taste 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 🏮Review🏮The broth was pleasantly sweet, but unfortunately, the beef slices were slightly overcooked. This was our first time coming here, the staff were incredibly friendly and greeted us right at the door. When we ordered, we weren’t expecting much but the food honestly shocked us, the broths of the phos were flavourful and aromatic, the noodles tasted like they were fresh (not the dried package kind), and the portion sizes were reasonable for their pricing. The broths were a little on the salty side, but me and my family like our food a little more on the less salted side so that’s completely subjective to opinion, and we would’ve liked a slight bit more meat with the noodles however we are very happy with what we got. 10/10 experience. Strong bold flavours, quick service. I liked the egg coffee, but my partner thought it was gimmicky and not hot enough, she liked the traditional Vietnamese coffee. Pho was good, would be better with a wedge of lemon or lime and some fresh chilli's (they only gave chopped chilli). The BBQ pork rice was awesome, nicely caramelized and no smell. The sauce worked well with the dish. Lovely place. Will come eat here next time we are in Rotorua.

TLDR: vegan options if you're in a pinch, but would recommend elsewhere if you want to visit Flavortown. Service: pretty solid service and knowledgeable about vegan vs. not vegan. They even recommended NOT getting the stir fry noodle because without fish sauce "it is bland." But then our drinks were forgotten. No one else was in the restaurant, but yet we felt a bit like we were bothering them. Food: spring rolls were fine, but a bit greasy for our taste. The pancake was very underwhelming with little flavor or punch the average Vietnamese pancake should have. The filling was JUST raw mung beans and nothing special. The noodle soup was decent, but again, nothing flavorful to make me recommend it. It was warm, it was cooked, and it was fast, but it was not great.
