Delicious food, super nice staff. Prices are a bit high but it’s in a highly touristic area so it’s to be expected. Overall, a nice place to have some fish close to the sea. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person €30–35 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Fish Platter

The only reason my initial rating was 4 stars was the price. We each had a cocktail, they set olives, pate and bread on the table thinking it's complimentary. No. But the food was excellent. She had a grilled fish and I had skewered shrimp. 77 euro plus a tip was 90. The staff were great. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
What can I say? We got to the strip after 3 so everywhere else was closed and this was pretty much our only option - it ended up exceeding all our expectations. Friendly service and a mix fish platter that absolutely blew me away. Absolutely huge portions of fish beautifully grilled. We orderd two sides which was a mistake because the fish alone proved too much of a bounty for the two of us. Feasted for 45 minutes and still had a huge amount of food to take away. Friendly, Attentive staff. 60 euros for the platter, two sides, 1starter, 1 glass of wine and 4 cokes. 9/10 would recommend - you must come here if you ever visit Porto.
I have been here three times, and I can only say good things about it. Super kind staff, they even gave us more wine and sardines for free, we ended up staying there around two hours and a half. Fish is super fresh and tasty, would go back one million times more.
AVOID. Useless. Fries were half cooked...veg tasted like it was out of a can ..Tiny portions. I don't even think my swordfish was actually sword fish, possibly cod. Also, 8 euro worth of stuff put on our bill (bread, olives and pate) which we didn't eat, and was removed off the bill when we raised it....cheeky trick... Didn't get potatoes we ordered, asked again for them before we gave up.. . food didn't taste nice ... avoid avoid avoid
The food was tasty and the setting was nice. However, they charged us for five things we did not eat. Some were ordered but not received. Others were snacks brought to the table that we asked them to take away without having eaten them. I'm not sure the service we received was indicative of usual service. I might try it again if I lived here, but not as a visitor. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €10–15 Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

It was a sunny mid-April day and we decided to go to Matosinhos for a walk at the beach and a bite of lunch. There are hundreds of restaurants in Matosinhos and close to 3 dozen on Rua Herois de Franca, where many restaurants have outdoor seating and a grill outside where they grill the fish. So, we came upon O Antonio and the fact that they serve other dishes beside fish attracted us since one of us doesn't eat fish. O Antonio has about 20-24 tables outside but they are set attached to each other in 4 rows, so literally there is no space between the tables. As we sat down at one of the outside tables, Jose approached with bread, olives and pate and took our drink order. We did not care for the olives and the pate and asked him to take it back. We ordered grilled sea bass (12.50€) and side potatoes (2.50€); steak with egg on top, french fries and side salad (11.00€). The small sea bass was perfectly grilled and the steak and fries was good. By the time our entrees arrived all the tables outside as well as several tables inside were occupied. I can imagine this restaurant being packed every day during the high season. A homemade & delicious white wine sangria (4.50€) and a glass of vinho verde (3.50€) was perfect match for the meals. Jose speaks fluent English and provided prompt and friendly service. When the check came we were charged for the olives and pate, which Jose promptly removed from the bill and apologized for it multiple times. We accepted that as an honest mistake since most tables keep the condiments.
Ate here tonight while staying in Porto for a business trip. The service and food were fantastic. Also great to sit outside on a nice night. Very friendly, fun, and helpful staff who spoke both English and Portuguese. I was especially partial to the sardines, which were grilled and seasoned just right, and a great selection of wines (and the bagaço with espresso). I see people knocked off stars due to receiving some starters without asking. Perhaps I'm more used to this in the US. This didn't bother me. Our group was hungry and having some things to eat, which were very good, immediately was nice even if it added a couple items to the bill. The tuna pate, which was part of that, was excellent. I also see comments on portions. Again, I personally thought portions were just right. A starter, a plate of fish, and splitting a salada mista with one other person is perfect for dinner. If you want the local scene and are into fresh seafood I would add this to your list of places to try. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €20–25

These restaurants found in the backstreets of Matosinhos near the harbour are a hidden gem, and O Antonio is no exception to this. The food was tasty and fresh, and service was good. It's a great spot for authentic Portuguese food, especially seafood.
