Portuguese style BBQ chicken, really tasty and affordable. Service was very good, food came really quickly. Octopus salad was fantastic but sausage tasted a bit strange? Roasted Piglet was really good and white beans with tripes was surprisingly good! Overall, a good quick eating place for family with great value for money. 👍 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €5–10 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes Octopus Salad

Following a recommendation from our early walking tour, we had to give this place a try. We were greeted by a long line, which looked like mainly locals . This is itself would give one an idea of how good the food was. Although not fancy on the entrance , the main eating area upstairs was really nice and spacious. We went for the calamari and rice and the chicken. The chicken was the star of the show, which was really succulent. There was a peri peri oil provided which really gave the dish that extra kick. For dessert we had a nut cake which was divine! Would highly highly recommend it. I almost forgot to mention, the service was excellent with so many friendly faces Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Traditional restaurant with amazing food . We tried grilled chicken and home made wine. Be careful because during weekend you need to wait in line more than 1 hour - it’s better to reserve table online - for sure . The place is hidden at the corner of the street. It is packed with locals which is a sign of deliciousness! A full small size rotisserie chicken with full of fries, bread and nice service was just €13. Don’t expect a spotless, posh restaurant. It’s an old fashioned, less decorated but highly recommended place. We have tried the famous piri piri sauce but should warn you, it’s spicy! The staff are kind and welcoming. You must try if you are looking for a budget, local taste. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €10–15 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Local clientele, good prices and hefty quantity of food. The half serving is plenty for an adult like me, and that's gives you more options to top up with drinks and desserts! The best is the roast chicken, which was grilled to a juicy texture. The fried squid rings was pretty OK, but I would rather go for the octopus instead next time. Fast service and good chicken and potato fries. Wasn't super amazing but hit the spot perfectly at an affordable price. Lots of interior dining area and has a sink to wash hands. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €5–10 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Fries
Pedros dos Frangos did not disappoint. We could smell the charcoaled roasted chicken as we entered the door front. They produce some great chicken and homemade fries. Chicken was crispy exterior and juicy inside. Prices are very reasonable. I would recommend this place for a place to stop and get a quick and casual inexpensive meal. Started off with octopus salad which was very good. The fish and roasted chicken were delicious, with the peri peri sauce being a perfect complement to the chicken. The service was excellent. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €15–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

This felt authentic! Sweet staff kindly helped us through the menu. The best roasted chicken I’ve had in years. Portions are big and prices are small. I definitely recommend this place if you are craving chicken.

UPDATE 2023-07-20: Pedro dos Frangos for sure has the best roasted chicken at a reasonable price. And that is the reason we keep going back. Apparently, post pandemic, the restaurant's 2nd building cross the street at 223 is no longer open. The chicken & French Fries plate is now €13. The Mista salad is €4. The chicken, fries, and the salad were delicious. A half bottle of white wine cost €4, all reasonable. The only thing that was really overpriced was the price of those little pats of butter at €1.20 each! The service has always been attentive and prompt. 2018 ORIGINAL REVIEW: We visited Pedro dos Frango several times during our 3 months' stay in Porto on 2017. Charcoal fire roasted chicken was delicious with crispy skin, properly seasoned, juicy, and tender. The whole mackerel was grilled on charcoal and seasoned to perfection and served with boiled potato and sauteed greens. Chicken and French fries for two at 9.75€, you can't beat that. Mackerel plate was 6.50€. French fries were good, but on one of our visits, they were not crispy and a bit greasy. The restaurant has two locations right across from one another. Each has counter seating on the ground floor and 3 floors of the dining area. The dining room at 223 R. Do Bonjardim does not have much of atmosphere, however the 312 R. Do Bonjardim is newer and modern. The service was efficient and prompt! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person €10–15 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Roasted Chicken
