Just GOOD down home cooking. Nothing fancy and that’s what we liked. The sweet tea actually tasted like tea and not sugar water. And yes! We have to mention the cheddar biscuit. The waitresses had personality. The employees spoke to us. Keep up the good work for small town feel!!! We’re from Winston Salem, NC Price per person $1–10
When you think of true southern, honey this is it. When you walk in you get hugged by the environment. Food is consistently good, wait and kitchen staff are always on it- the comments about the wait time: there can be a little bit of wait some days, but nothing different from other establishments and most days there truly isn’t much of one. We have brunch a few days a week there and each time is a great experience. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
3rd visit. Food and service is excellent. Generous servings. The wait for food was very long. The noise was loud as no sound absorption materials in building. Great if you have lots of time and don’t have a hearing aid, as it will go crazy. Lots of older people, but young people should check this place out, as great for young families. Worse breakfast I've ever had. Coffee tasted like it was recycled, sausage and "steak" my husband ordered were tough. The 3% surcharge for not paying cash is ridiculous. Never going back. Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
My husband and I were split between going to shep's or Pam's for our first breakfast in Washington. We decided to come here. The parking is not so very spacious because it just is off the road so you could come with the people in your family home but not a big birthday party type gathering which is fine as long as you know that upfront. Pam's give small town Southern diner as soon as you walk in the door. You're instantly going to see plenty of local faces which we took as a good sign that they were doing something right. The seating area consists of all wood booths and fixed table tops so if you are "expecting" or a bit firmer in the middle like we are, you might have to go with a stool at the small bar or the one table with two moveable chairs and a half booth. My friendly suggestion to ownership would be raising the table height some on booths 11&12 and sliding the booths a little further apart from one another along that wall where you've got about eight inches of dead space beside the register. This would accomodate a few of your clientele that just need a roomier booth. We sat directly behind a couple in a booth that was actually labeled COMPACT SEATING. This would be the converse but, that's just me. The food was delicious and came out after a bit of a understandable wait considering the crowd. Service was provided by two different servers who were helpful in getting things just right and answering the questions we had. We will be coming back when we are in the area and recommending your place to friends and family. They know their regulars by name. An older gentleman comes to gather the dishes and bus the table. This is where I think I discovered my favorite thing about Pam's. Their coffee cup "set" isn't really a set at all but rather a collection of eclectic mugs that just made me smile. Thanks for the experience. 😊
I want to preface that I went here for lunch and I recognize it's more of a breakfast place. I got the chicken tender sandwich and their tenders are fried from frozen. I think if they moved away from these frozen products and made fresh fried chicken tenders they could really up their game on the lunch menu. A delightful home style diner in the true southern tradition. For me this is comfort. I was city-fied rather than country-fried in my early years, but I now find a good southern diner a real treasure. If you’re rural, then hang your hat here!!!
