Recently revisited this long-standing restaurant in Sibu during my trip. Steeped in history, I recall attending wedding luncheons here as a child. Although they no longer host wedding receptions, the authenticity of their Foochow dishes remains. It's advisable to book in advance and pre-order for a prompt serving. Check their comprehensive menu on Google Reviews via their WhatsApp number. The unique dishes set them apart, making it a must-try in Sibu. Keep in mind that prices align with the local standard.

I had a wonderful time at New Capital Restaurant with my old classmates from the SHS Class of 1973. We celebrated our 50th anniversary welcome dinner there last evening and it was a memorable experience. The restaurant is located in the heart of Sibu, opposite the Premier Hotel and behind the Tanahmas Hotel. It has a nostalgic ambience with the tiles, the ceiling, and the setting that reminds me of my childhood days.
The food was delicious and authentic, with a variety of dishes to choose from. We ordered and enjoyed a nine-course feast. Some of their signature dishes, such as the Hainanese Chicken, Roast Pork Belly and Famous Shao Mai. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff helped us to arrange the tables and chairs in the banquet room according to our needs.
We had a great time catching up with each other, sharing stories and laughter, and reminiscing about our school days. It was a fun and nostalgic night that we will cherish for a long time.
I highly recommend New Capital Restaurant to anyone who is looking for a place to enjoy good food and good company in Sibu. It is a restaurant that belongs to the Sibu people and their old-fashioned taste. Thank you, New Capital Restaurant, for making our 50th-anniversary welcome dinner a success!

Food is quite nice. Many options that you can seldom see at other restaurants. Price is affordable. Some dishes will be a little bit to salty and deliciousness always depend on self feelings. Encourage to make reservations when you decide to eat there. Staffs are all friendly and environment friendly. Highly recommend clay pot mutton if you're a mutton eater! Claypot mutton 10/10!

Great place for family meals and gathering. Food is tasty and reservation has to be made in this restaurant to avoid disappointment.
Every year will definitely pay this restaurant a visit. The spinach tofu this round is a little over fried but the gravy is pretty good. Boiled chicken is tender and juicy. Braised peanut appetizers is flavorful but cubed cucumber is not so well done. The noodle is texture and gravy is great and the green dragon vegetables stirred fried with eggs is really my favorite.

I don't know what happen to this restaurant but I ordered a take-away seafood frie rice which cost RM20 however provide such a poor quality and condition. Not even with any other seafood but only some small pity prawn meanwhile the fried rice taste oily and tasteless. Idk what I get for that 20 ringgit when the quantity served is so little too. Even a Malay roadside stall do better than this. Would not consider anymore.
