I have eaten at Marco’s several times over the last couple years and enjoy the salami flatbread (the closest thing to pizza in POL) the most. The restaurant is attached to The Waiting Lodge next door as its in house restaurant. The staff are very kind and attentive. Last year my wife and I had the Tenderloins for our anniversary dinner, even though we had to carry out because of COVID, it was delicious. They do a lovely presentation of the food and the chef always sends some extra little treat along for an appetizer or maybe apertif. It’s hot season right now, so today he gave a watermelon refresher. Local and in season, very nice. They are clearly trying to add a little flair ro their fare. Portioning is reasonable as are the prices really for what is one of the very few restaurants in town that could be called upscale. By local standards it’s on the expensive side, but then it seems primarily geared toward tourists and the hotel as well as celebrations anyway. Recently I’ve also had the Fish and Chips which were good, and the Sea Bass which is served with chutney on top. Also today I had the Grilled Chicken which came with a stroganoff sauce with large potato wedges to finish that off when the chicken was gone. The Chicken Wings Appetizer was crispy and seasoned for the regional taste, yummy. The food is naturally tailored to the Myanmar palate, so things tend toward sweet that one might think would be more savory. For example what appears to be a balsamic reduction on the greens served is much more sugary tasting than expected. On the whole the food is consistent and Marco’s provides one of the best local venues for Western food in Pyin Oo Lwin. Once COVID is over and they are fully open, hopefully the Gelato Bar comes back!

The space is set up nicely...but the food is way below expectation. Pad tai noodle was hard, calamari served cold, steak was supposed to be 250g and was more like 100g and not tender, pumpkin soup was watery, burger was cold with a disappointing patty. Only thing decent was the grilled pork neck and pork chop. Please improve. You are the only place like this in maymyo. I look forward to when you’re more seasoned!
Inconspicuous entrance, without parking attendants. Seems to have an alternative name of Waiting Lodge. Ambience is different, tables close to each other, in an almost triangular room. Service was ok. No masks, gloves or face shields, no handwash or hand sanitising - we had to ask for the latter. More staff training needed. Individual plates were served at very different times. Food also indifferent. Pasta undercooked and Australian steak - thin and not hot. Cocktails ok. Overall, reasonable value, and a good addition to Pyin Oo Lwin's growing number of decent restaurants. A nice deli in the entrance surprised us with quality cakes and a wide choice of cheeses and wines.
Amazing! The owner has decorated very well and has successfully created entertainment in a place without much! We are there twice in our two stay and everything we ordered, western food, was great! There’s also pool, air hockey and fooseball to play while you wait!
