Average food at standard prices. The fried rice was a bit too moist. The laab was ok. It lots of onion. Good place for a quick bit if you don’t have time to look around. Friendly staff.

This restaurant is close to the road so it's easy to find. It's a pretty big and clean space. The waiter said something has changed on menu, so we looked at the menu on the wall and ordered. 153,000kip is charged for 1 pork steak, 1 fried rice, 1 orange juice and 1 small water. They serve Lao and Western food, and they taste pretty good.
My regular place whenever I go to Luang Namtha as it is close to the hotel . The food is clean and quite tasty. There are many options esp western kinda style breakfast.also, sometimes you can request for some changes in the menu to make it your own way 😆 the owner is quite flexible and kind. The location is also good, right in the middle of town.
Worst meal I ever had! They didn't bother to add some herbs just a bunch of black pepper. It was tasteless and the meat was so hard. The coffee was acid plus the service is horrendous. They seem to be annoyed at you for asking for food. Most of the food in the menu is unavailable. The prices don't match and once they give you the food, they disappear and you are left alone with a 5 years old.
AVOID.

I had 2 times breakfast here in 2 Weeks and everytime i ordered Bacon they didnt have it. I came to eat egg and bacon but they dont have bacon twice i went there in 2 weeks. The half menu is writen with bacon but no bacon inhouse.
The coffe is good but the seize are too small. I had a Cappuccino but it was a very tiny cup and way to expensive for what i got.
Staff could be also more friendly. I didn't felt welcome both time i went there. Maybe they dont care about the White costumer anymore.

Food is good, not all the position from the menu were available unfortunately. Papaya salad was mostly cucumber (still was very good and spicy as I asked for) laab was also nice, could be bit more spicy and with more herbs, but still very good.

(November 2018) 55 000 kip/n is a good price for accommodation in a town this size (I was quoted 60 000 Kip for a single room with fan; hot water and double bed but got a two night discount).
Manychan is over the road from the night market and is very well positioned regarding proximity to ATMs and scooter/bicycle hire. It is walking distance (about 800m) from the small decrepit New Bus Station where the songthew drops passengers who arrived at the New Bus Terminal, but 9.5km from the new bus TERMINAL (NOT to get mixed up with the new bus STATION).
One enters the guest house through the restaurant on the ground level which also has a bar. Fried rice with chicken (my food price reference point) is 25 000 Kip which indicates that meals in Luang Namtha (as I have seen elsewhere in this town) are a little more costly than other towns/cities I have been to, but not the most expensive. Th lady (owner?) who runs the front desk speaks English relatively well.
The rooms are three to a level and fairly compact. 3-7 which was my room had a firm but comfortable double bed, a hot water shower; basin with cold water only (and the basin had a plug) and okay cistern type toilet. The room had aircon if you want to pay the premium to use it (40 000 Kip additional, taking the same room to 100 000 Kip). There was a little desk and stool in the room and an open cupboard with hangers and hanging space only unless one puts folded clothing on the cupboard floor. The ceiling fan worked okay (rotation) but unfortunately had only one speed…. Full blast. The room had an extractor fan, but not the bathroom. Windows were meshed to dissuade mosquitoes. Toilet paper was supplied as was a little bar of hand soap. On the bed were two flat sheets and a woolly blanket, while on top of the open cupboard was a duvet of sorts which looked a little iffy. The two pillows were well padded and great. There was also a TV in the room for what that is worth. Hygiene levels looked okay, but like much I have experienced in Laos, from the moment something is built it is seldom maintained and if maintained then it is jury rigged. The room had a number of two pin power outlets for charging, all of which are standard Laos styled two pin sockets. Downstairs in the restaurant they have three pin wall sockets and its a pleasant placed to sit when working on a laptop.
Luang Namtha is a pleasant town with a good calm feel to it. This calm combined with the wide streets makes it one of the nicer towns I have stayed in in Laos.
Stayed there for 5 nights. Location is perfect right in front of the night market and close to all the trekking agencies. Prices for room are decent, but we had a few problems with the rooms when it rained at night. The restaurant is good. Owner is very nice and friendly, and her son is gorgeous! We booked a room in advance for after the trekking and it is recommended because the guesthouse is popular.
