This was the first restaurant we visited on our 3-week tour of New Zealand and it set the bar very high! We dined here in late October and because the menu is constantly changing, you probably cannot order the ox cheek I had. It was one of the most delicious things I ever tasted. Melted in your mouth. Excellent service and wines as well. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

This restaurant is a breath of fresh air, tucked away in the bush made the ambiance superb. This was a very comfortable place to dine out, with exceptional staff that provided a wonderful dining experience. We ordered their version of lemon, lime and bitters that we highly recommend and a watermelon daiquiri for drinks. Both very refreshing and delicious. We ordered the wagyu beef brisket ramen, which was full of flavour, the beef just melts in your mouth. The broth and ramen was sublime. The chips were accompanied by a rich creamy chilli sauce that added a wonderful kick. The eggplant and prawn dish was an explosion of different flavours that worked well together. For dessert, the creme brulee was light and creamy, easy to finish after a very filling meal. Overall, a delightful experience that I would recommend to family and friends. Go to Maha if you are stopping in at Kerikeri. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $60–70 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes White Chocolate Creme Brulee

So lucky we have somewhere like this in the Bay of Islands. The setting is beautiful. Set on the edge of the tropical garden. Feels like you're in Bali or somewhere tropical (if you sit outside, we have never sat inside, haha) The kai is always a journey! We don't come here often because we live out of Keri, but when we do, it's always amazing! You pay for what you get, and it's worth it! It's now our anniversary spot for dinner!! The flavours are so good. The concepts look like they won't work, but they really do, and it's a place that allows you to try kai that might be a bit out of your comfort zone. Everything is seasonal. Our meal was off the summer menu. You can tell the chef puts in a lot of time and effort to perfect his art, and he loves what he does. Or if he hates it and wants to retire, we can't tell. 😅 Staff are always friendly and happy. We are always welcomed like we are seasoned diners. Laughs are had. For an entire restaurant experience this restaurant is world class. From the warm welcome, unique setting to the small but exquisite seasonal menu Māha never disappoints. Diane is an exceptional mixologist when it comes to serving divine cocktails, her husband the chef quietly works away to deliver mouthwatering dishes from local and cleverly sourced ingredients. For any occasion this exquisite restaurant should be on your must visit list. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The restaurant is in the middle of beautiful gardens, just an absolutely lovely setting and gorgeous ambiance. We went with a large group of people and most of us were satisfied with our dishes. I ordered the fish with scallop and edamame risotto and it was absolutely worth it! Diane was very attentive and kind to us!

I was staying at Wharepuke so I walked from my cottage. A beautiful walk too. When you go, expect to plan the evening there as the ambience, smells and experience should be savoured. The food is incredible, the staff were attentive but not over the top. I cannot recommend this highly enough. Put aside a few hours and soak it up. Amazing food, from starter to desert everything is hand made and elaborate in house, small restaurant so better to book in advance on weekends, service is a bit slow when visiting by yourself. Restaurant is definitely a great place to have dinner. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Duck

Came here for lunch and we had Tankatsu, lobster bique and wood ear fungi everything was good but the portions were bit small and the tortellini were too salty and we could taste the flour dough. The whole vibe of the resturant was really great highly recommended for drinks. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch

Overall the food was very good, but the place is lacking finesse. When you are paying high end prices, the experience needs to live up to that as well. Just a few points that I think would improve the experience in no particular order: No one talked us through the menu Food designed for sharing needs to be easy to share, e.g the sashimi was unevenly cut and had an odd number, same with pork Napkins are paper No one asked how the food was Had to ask for more drinks Food was taken to the wrong table. Relatively small things but as I say for high end dining this needs to be done correctly. Especially with competition down the road that costs less and gets these things right.
