Overall: We really wanted to like the restaurant since we started at the Lazare Picault Hotel but sadly did not have a great experience that included undercooked fish and won't come back here anytime soon.
Food: The mixed salad was mostly cabbage and carrots with a few slices of cucumber, fewer slices of tomatoes and a tiny bit of soft mango on top. The salad comes without dressing, but there is oil, vinegar, salt and pepper on the table for that. The curry was decent, but overwhelmingly tasted like coconut milk, so it was very filling and got old very quick. We had a kid's Spaghetti Bolognese and for some reason that tasted very sweet with hints of ketchup. This seemed to be a theme as they also mentioned to the waitress that their grilled mussels we're also too sweet. The highlight of the meal was supposed to be the fish brochette (skewers) were too sweet with the dominant flavor of bbq sauce. The worst part was that 2-3 pieces of fish (and vegetablesas well) were undercooked and even smelled like raw fish with insufficient cold storage, and so we went from disappointed about food quality to worrying about food safety.
Service: The service was friendly and polite, but not as jovial as the jokes on the menus had suggested. However, they failed to mention any of the specials on the board that were out of sight at our table and when we wanted to change one of the dishes for a special (within 5 minutes of ordering), we were refused with a sorry and a shoulder shrug. It would have also been great for the service to mention that the mixed salad (mostly cabbage and carrots) is essentially served with every main course and therefore superfluous. One odd thing was that when we called ahead we were told that they don't take walk ins and that we had to make a reservation, but then there were plenty of tables available for the time that we came, leaving a bit of a bad impression of being coaxed into committing to come.
Ambience: Outdoor seating is quite nice with the ambient skins of waves lapping the shore. Unfortunately, we arrived at 8:10 and by 9 the staff began to stack chairs and drag tables across the floor, which made us feel a bit like we're being rushed out of the restaurant.

TL:DR Fresh catch of a day fish with kreole twist in a lovely scenic place with friendly stuff.
A lovely place with ambience and authentically helpful and friendly service that is adjacent next to one of the most beautiful beaches (I’ve seen at the majority on Mahé for comparison). It is pricey as the seyshelles generally is but quality/value for money is unprecedented. ( 600-700 Seyshelles rupies for the whole fish, water and sides; pictured)

One of our favourite restaurants on Mahé. Great menu and friendly service.
Recommend the octopus salad and their 'catch of the day'.
Tables near the railing are close to the road and noisy traffic, so we avoid those seats.

We stopped here by chance and did not regret it. The restaurant is just opposite a beatiful, quiet beach. We ordered fish curry and ginger crab: both dishes were delicious and copious. I also had a cocktail (Gaulette sundowner) which was also very good. The service was welcoming and friendly. I recommend. We ended the day on the beach just in front: a perfect ending

La Gaulette restaurant - out favourite restaurant for authentic Creole cusine on the main island. Staff is extremely friendly and the seafood is so fresh it is next to none. On top, you get fresh Hand-Made cocktails and a good could Seybrew. A must-visit when on Mahe!

The restaurant is right on the main road and very easy to find. Service was fast and friendly, the waitress showed us the fresh fish before it was cooked perfectly for us. House wine was also surprisingly good.
The only reason they do not get 5 stars is the prawns dish that was very small and unsatisfying.
