This is a very traditional, old school eatery folks. You won't find fancies and frills here, but the mutton bunny is class indeed.
I only ever come here for the mutton bunny, so cannot comment on the other dishes. One things for sure, they are consistent with the taste and quality of their food. For this they get 5 stars for sure.
3 stars rating is because:
1. The parking can be very difficult to find at times. Cars will double park and just about scrape past you due to the narrow road. But the mutton bunny is worth all this inconvenience.
2. The setting isn't beautiful. In fact, it's way below average, but the mutton bunny makes up for it, if you want a good chow.
3. The washing up facilities aren't great...the tap is slow, and soap a little scarce, and no hand towels provided.
The owner is pretty laid back himself, but generous with his dishing out of the food.
4. The seating area doesn't give any privacy from passers-by on the street, and often there are vagrants and beggars who stand there and look at u eating....that can be very uncomfortable.
If u can put up with all of this, u will be in for a top chow. The mutton bunny is very generously served, with no shortage of gravy and meat.

This take away is a old house hold name. Everyone wants to dig in a bunny chow theirs the one and only Jimsons Take Away. Situated in Central Tongaat the people are great and the food is awesome 👌.

Decent vegetarian curries. However the people in my party did not enjoy the mutton. Food was salty and the meat was tough. Fortunately I am vegetarian so was satisfied with the broad beans , decent enough to get a par rating.

It's a take away shop that has been around now for over 40 years. Those of us who used to frequent this restaurant back then were very happy and impressed with the lovely delicious curries and bunny's served there. It was managed by Mrs Jimmy at that time. Her cooking skills were exemplary. The shop is now managed by her daughter and son inlaw, they do indeed work hard to maintain the standards of their mum and mum inlaw.
Today I decided to go down memory lane accompanied by 2 other friends from that Era. We enjoyed delicious milk tea with sweet corn and cheese samoosas. This was very lovingly made by the grand daughter of Mrs Jimmy.
Please keep up the awesome tradition from back in the day.

A little gem in Tongaat. I've eaten many bunny chows, and this family owned restaurant has the best. Look. Dont expect the decor and shop to be five star. This is ideally a take away, but tables are available for patrons to sit and eat. Mutton bunny is amazing. If you feel like something cheaper try a soup bunny. A must visit eatery
Jimsons takeway has mouth watering bunny chows with cabbage salad (winner) and authentic curries. All items on the menu is quite reasonably priced. The service at jimsons is also very efficient.

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name.....the nostalgia is real....the good food takes me back to my childhood....nothing like a Jimsons bunny
