We have been looking for good Jamaican food since we left NY. Jamaican Grill comes close. It's very tasty and fresh. The chicken curry is really good with the right amount of heat. Rice and peas was flavorful, and the cabbage was really good. The fried plantain was fine - not dry. Atmosphere is just very basic and casual. Staff is friendly. Limited parking. RUDE FROM THE TIME I WALKED IN! I said good afternoon, NO RESPONSE! Music was EXTREMELY LOUD! Ordered my food, another girl came out the kitchen & they proceeded to whisper. Then told me they didn’t have a item I ordered.. Ordered a drink, she didn’t even hand it to me, she just put it on the counter.. I still tipped just to come home & try to eat the food but I couldn’t went to sleep & woke up throwing it all up! Never should have purchased anything from the vibe I got waking through the door! I ordered my food online at 5:15pm yesterday and received a message that it would be ready at 5:35pm. Well it wasn’t, and a gentleman walked in and ordered 3 trays of food and still received his food before me and I only had one tray of jerk chicken. I received my food about 6;20pm. The restaurant was not busy at all. No customers there except the one guy and myself. I work too hard for my money and we’re in a recession. Everyone is seeing inflated prices everywhere and I refuse to continue to patronize any establishment that doesn’t appreciate it. Businesses forget about the days when they first opened and wanted people to spend their money with them. Then they get complacent once business picks up and totally disregard how they make their money to pay their own bills. I will NEVER return to the Jamaican Grill in North Charleston Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

My friend and I had dinner here on Saturday. She had the oxtail and i had the jerk chicken. The portions were good but she complained the her oxtail were smal but everything was amazing. The only complaint i have is that they ran outta cabbage Service Take out Service: 5

So let’s just say i use to love them back in the day but now I’m not ever coming back because if i paid for extras i should receive what i pay for. I spend 60.00 and still was short what i paid for ! Plus the plantains were old and dried out ! Usually i don’t have a problem but this is the third time y’all take my money and didn’t give me exactly what i ask for .. it’s unfortunate bc i really use to love this food and the Fact i wasted my Cheat day for this pissed me off ! Do better because if I’m spending 60 and up everytime i come i expect better results . Experience was as good as the food first time at this spot people look you won’t be disappointed in the food I had the oxtail which was great overall the meal was wonderful I had no regrets visiting here. I love their oxtails, rice and cabbage. Service is great and you get a good amount of food….. the one piece of fried plantain with your meal is disappointing, but the flavorful oxtails make up for it!! This used to be my go to spot but I’m all set. For the 1st time today I finally got to taste the elusive oxtails. The one edible one I had was great but I barely got any meat. The other three were inedible, mostly fat and bones. Definitely not worth the price they charge. The cabbage was sweet & tough.
