This place used to be a Stl county staple. We used to skip school and drive up here for lunch. I always looked forward to the hot braised chicken, and regarded this place as the best Chinese food in the city. Not anymore! The food has gone downhill since the new ownership. They claim nothing has changed in the kitchen, but it's simply not true. Such a shame, they really need to focus on the quality of the food and bring back the long-time customers they've lost. We've been ordering from there for 25 years, but have moved on... Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
This place was great! I got a Mongolian Beef lunch and special. It came with fried rice, soup, and a crab rangoon as well as a vegetable egg roll. The owner is a super nice person and very flexible with any substitutions. Really enjoyed the overall experience and I don't normally write reviews. Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The food has definitely gone downhill. We won’t even order anymore. The egg drop soup was like a bowl of gelatin two weeks in a row. Crab Rangoon was undercooked, actually cold in the middle. And all of the chicken dinners seem like the exact same meat. We usually get crispy chicken and it definitely was not crispy chicken it was standard fried mystery chicken with the crispy chicken sauce! wont be back. That’s too bad. We’ve been going for 30 years. we tried several times. Not worth the money. $35 for crispy chicken and an order of crab Rangoon’s! Unbelievable. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
Unfortunately the economy got the better of this restaurant. They have switched to cheap meat and using new recipes the old flavorful ones are gone. The General T’so Chicken used to be sooooo good very disappointing. Now it’s no different then China King or Green China. If you used to drive for this place save the trip and order from the place in your neighborhood. It’s not any different anymore. We would drive from Saint Peters (25 min) for this place. Dine is in back. Personally this is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in stl. This is not a cookie cutter restaurant and has good tasting food. The general taso has fresh garlic and ginger in it. The hot and sour soup has a unique restaurant and is absolutely beautiful and I love it. The lunch menu is almost too cheap! There were Definitely issues during covid times with the quality food but now that dine in is back everything back to how I love it. Notes for self. Potstickers were weirdly sweet and gigantic. Meal type Brunch Price per person $1–10

We threw $75 worth of food in the trash can because it was worse than the cheapest food we could have gotten closer to our home! Too far out of our way to drive back. This restaurant has been our tradition for the last 21 years, but everything must come to an end. We will start a new tradition with a restaurant that cares about their customers.
