Dog-friendly location but the food was average. It's a houtou specialty store but we have had better ones. We don't recommend anything because it was really so so. Not Japanese standard in my opinion. Customer service was bad. We were at the lobby hovering around not sure what to do but the staff did not bother to assist at all. We spoke in English but staff replied in Mandarin. Replies were unfriendly. Did not bother offering menu to us too. Just a tourist location I reckon. The area is know for delicious hot pots and this restaurant was OK. The service was not friendly or inviting. The restaurant looked nice but if you looked around the cleanliness was subpar. The spiderwebs and dust on the windows were a nice touch. The best part of this restaurant was the items they sold to take home. The spice collection is quite tasty. Pretty delicious restaurant, we like the うどん and the soup so much. It is worthwhile to wait in line for hours, but we went to the 河口湖の温泉と森美術館 instead of waiting in line. It is really delicious and too sad for no branches store anywhere. We come here again for another year, it is still crowded with people. I guess you can pick up the waiting list paper, and then take a look around the museum or just enjoying the mountain Fuji view. First time trying houto and it was really delicious. The noodle was thick and chewy. Very addicting taste. I tried the sukiyaki houto and it was amazing. The soup is sweet and delicious. The meat and vegetables are fresh and perfectly served. One thing to note for me is the portion a little bit too big, but I wasn't sure if I can order one portion to share between 2 person. Love this place so much!! The sukiyaki houtou is the best dish I ever tried, they made it by ownself. The ambiance is very warmth with japanese style and use tatami & baby chair also. The ice cream also delicious, must try!!

Would've given it 5 stars but the service was a bit cold. I needed the bathroom but it was locked.. staff wasn't around to ask until I got up and asked to pay.. only to get redirected to a different bathroom -_- The chili powder is really good though!
