We are new to Portland and tried Hi Bombay this evening for dinner. The cuisine was simply wonderful so full of delicious flavors and spices! The Nan bread with Potatoes was fabulous with our curry chicken and lamb. Excellent customer service. Our server was professional, sweet and friendly. The portions are generous and reasonably priced for Portland. We left very happy with our dinner choice and this will be one of our new go to restaurants!! Food is amazingly good. I had the house special biryani. The portion was ridiculous! It was moist and very flavorful and the raita was perfect to tone down the extra spiciness I asked for. The aloo nan was giant and delicious. Looking forward to trying other dishes in the future. Just what I needed. Very nice flavor! Their food is amazing. I had the chicken tikka masala & lamb vindaloo both at level 8 spicy and it was perfect. Both dishes came with rice. We also ordered the garlic naan which was super good and perfect for dipping with the curries. The service was also friendly. First experience with Hi Bombay, it’s my friends birthday, and our first try at Indian food..It wasn’t exactly bad, yet I did ask for 0 spice and it still was slightly spicy. Then again we didn’t know what to expect, this was our first try at this type of food. We are glad there’s so many options (Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Etc.) Personally I think there’s not enough beverage Choices for non-Alcohol consumers. The tables are fairly small, but in all honestly it was a nice experience in general, the staff was nice, the moment you forget the food here it comes! Good enough for first timers, ( funny enough, there’s a weed store, right next to the restaurant ) Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30
Loved the lunch specials. Both the authentic taste and the service were outstanding! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Recommended dishes Garlic Naan Butter Chicken Basmati Rice
This place is amazing! Went late on a Friday night, staff was super friendly and welcoming even though dinner service was almost over. Everything came out fresh, hot, flavorful and delicious. I recommend any of their naan and the butter chicken was to die for. Overall, best Indian food I have found in this part of Maine. I'll definitely be back!! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner
Bland Indian food. Sadly I really had high hopes. Extremely overpriced. Anyone I feel gives this place hugh stars has never had proper Indian food. Also double the cost almost than any larger city Indian restaurant Ordered 3 dishes. Spent 75 dollars! 2 were vegetarian. They tasted like they were Cambells tomato soup. No spices, an hardly anything to them. Mostly a broth/sauce. Very disappointed Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes Naan
Tasty and reasonably priced Indian fare. Flavors are fresh tasting. Service was good and helpful. We did experience a very cold appetizer, was hot on the outside and cold in the middle which shows it may have been frozen. They promptly made a new order that was quite good. Naan was very good and complimented the meals nicely and as re strongly suggested. Chutneys are served with all entrees and can really enhance the flavors of the dish. Definitely a solid choice for Indian food.

This place is a ROBBERY. I ordered $180 worth of food takeout and was so embarrassed and sad to see the sizing of the portions. Paying $23 for a curry to get a tiny Chinese food container worth? It literally had 6 pieces of small cubes of lamb, the rest was all gravy, and THAT was 23??? The naans are huge but for it to be $8? 2 samosas for $8?? Maybe I'm biased because I come from NY and the Indian food there may he expensive BUT their portions speak for themselves. Personally I would just eat somewhere else, and save indian food for another place that isn't robbing their customers. I would be absolutely ashamed to charge that much for such little food. 😔 if you're not filling up in the bread and the rice, don't expect a entree to be an adult size entre.. maybe if ur 10 or 13, but definitely not enough for an adult. I'm so sad that I wasted almost 200 for barely any food. Will never be ordering again. Altho their food can be tasty, it really doesn't justify the childlike portions. We are up visiting from Atlanta and chose to eat here because it’s close to our hotel and had great reviews. This was some of, if not, the best Indian food we’ve ever had. The spices were great, the coconut stuffed naan was subtly sweet, and the meat was deliciously tender. The best part of all was the owner. He was so nice and personable and even brought our baby a mango yogurt treat to try.
