Roti Kade has become my go-to place whenever I crave a truly satisfying and authentic Sri Lankan culinary experience. Among their delectable offerings, their Coconut Rotti with Sambol and the assortment of curries, including mushroom and fish, have left a lasting impression on my taste buds. The Coconut Rotti at Roti Kade is an absolute delight. The roti itself is expertly made, boasting a perfectly crispy exterior while remaining soft and fluffy on the inside. The addition of coconut to the roti adds a delightful tropical twist, enhancing its flavor and giving it a unique texture. It pairs exceptionally well with the sambol, a traditional Sri Lankan condiment made with grated coconut, chili, and spices. The sambol adds a burst of heat and tanginess, elevating the overall taste experience. Moving on to the curries, Roti Kade's mushroom and fish options are equally impressive. The mushroom curry is a vegetarian delight, with tender mushrooms cooked in a fragrant blend of spices and coconut milk. The flavors are well-balanced, and the mushrooms soak up the rich curry sauce, creating a satisfying and hearty dish. The fish curry at Roti Kade is a true standout. The fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked, with a tender and flaky texture. The curry itself is rich, aromatic, and packed with layers of flavor. The blend of spices and coconut milk creates a creamy and flavorful base, allowing the fish to shine in every bite. It's a truly memorable dish that showcases the best of Sri Lankan cuisine.
I went there once in 2019, Then I wanted my wife to have the same experience. We arrived around 8pm. Two middle age women were there, serving and managing. They were preparing "Bulath Wita" We asked for pol rotti. came with Nai miris (very spicy) sambol Dhal Mushroom curry potato curry Polos (baby jack fruit) curry It was amazing. Note: one bad thing. We smell something bad, then the Nai miris sambol was not edible. Immediately one of the women replaced it with a different fresh red chilli sambol (Also very spicy) Finally ended with a plain tea.
