We only came here once and our experience was ok. The mussels were good but a very small portion for any other time I’ve ordered mussels. The pizza was nice that we ordered, but unfortunately my shrimp did not look like the photo that was posted on here. They were much smaller and very over cooked. Our server was nice, but the kitchen was slow that night and she apologized. I would come back but I was not blown away by the food. The environment is very nice, but make note it’s mainly outside so make sure to dress warm or sit next to the fire.

The desert tavern is the ultimate spot if you into live music! Awesome food menu!bar and safe parking! A must visit!

The ambiance was great. Apparently on Saturdays they have live music and I was fortunate enough to get a listen. If you need a place to eat later at night, is the place to go. I got the stuffed calamari and it tasted very yummy, it was a lot of food and i was able to save one for the next day!

Definitely had an eventful time visiting this bar when in Swakopmund during a trip to Namibia in Aug 2018! One of the few places in town open late (most bars/restaurants close at 10 pm during the week). Eclectic mix of locals, South Africans and travelers. It’s on the outskirts of town and walking back from bar to hotels late at night can be a little harrowing. Would recommend taking a ride back or walking with a group, etc.

The best bar on the coast! In this place you'll find a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, great food and amazing music (once in a while live music as well). The stuff is friendly and professional, you won't be bored or left behind on service. Highly recommend :)

Arrived to a cold dark place where the music was too loud, but the waiter was so great in getting the music turned off, getting a big fire going and being amazingly helpful. This turned into a great evening out. Great food, some Namibian beer. Worth the little trip away from the centre.

Food not bad,but they have the best Racist band 😶😶😶. If you wanna make money out of people you should treat people right!!! If you wanna meet extremely racist folks go to this place. We had to leave and go to Infinity lounge (swakopmund)which was the best club around town. People were so lovely at that lounge (Infinity) unlike Desert Tavern 💩💩💩👎👎👎👎
