Up front: we did not order drinks, just food, so know to disregard this if you're going for drinks or mixed drinks. We just ate the food and probably would have had a better experience if we were already drunk for it. The food was just...lackluster. The service was great, but the food was just not very good at all, and borderline unappetizing for mine. Mozzarella sticks, Chicken Cesar wrap with fries, and fried shrimp with hush puppies and fried squash. Mozzarella sticks had great breading, great pull, but no flavor. Everything was worse from there. I got the shrimp meal. The first bite of shrimp, I immediately bit into unshelled shrimp. Gross. But I always give a first pass in case someone just missed a piece of shell. So I take a bite of my second fried shrimp...shell. Third shrimp? You guessed it, shell. When I pulled open my shrimp, none of them were deveined and by that point (after already trying three shelled shrimp), my appetite was kind of gone. The hush puppies were chewy, dry, and hard. The fried squash was good, but had no flavor. My partners' chicken wrap apparently had wilted lettuce and was just 'okay'. But the service was great so, again, if you come here to drink, you might have a much better time! But I would go literally anywhere else for shrimp. Shuckin' Shack right down the street also doesn't devein their shrimp but, y'know what? They're usually so good I don't care. This place? Shells and gross shrimp, and nothing on the menu that great... I'd pass. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
Fantastic food! Best burger in ages. Small establishment; if it's busy, it's a little crowded. However, the food is worth it! Great service ~ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to discover this gem! As a self-proclaimed smash burger aficionado, I give the classic burger my seal of approval 🤩 Our server was a total gem. She had a easy going vibe, but was also sincere and super sweet to my baby! The cheese fries were so good I had to order two (diet, who?!), and the collard were perfect! The decor was super eclectic so if you decide to dine alone, you’ve got a lot to look at. I can’t wait to go back! TLDR; family friendly, get the burgers, get the moo fries, service was excellent. This is sports bar and serve bar food, plus some additional items. Sit inside to see the multiple TV screens and it's loud. Seat outside looks quieter. Food was not good and we will not return. Shrimp, okra overcooked probably frozen. Cesar salad was ok but they leave bottle of sauce for you to mix in. Worst was charging almost 4% if you use credit card. Folks, we have got to refuse this practice. I paid cash Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

We visited Cowfin for the first time tonight and I can without a doubt say it will not be the last time. I think we found our new favorite restaurant. The smash burgers were the best we've had. My husband had the Mac Attack while I had the Smokehouse BBQ. Both burgers were phenomenal. My son ordered the kids cheeseburger which was a GREAT size! We also had the moo fries as a side, my son tried the onion rings, and we tried the Mac n cheese. It was outstanding. We were not disappointed in the slightest with anything. We look forward to our next meal at Cowfin. So happy to have something so delicious so close!! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Cowfin is a sports bar and restaurant just off the Topsail island in Surf City. Their menu is typical bar food with a large selection of smash burger hamburger, loaded mac and cheeses and other appetizers, sandwiches, and salads. We had mozzarella sticks, wings and bang bang mac and cheese and it was all phenomenal. Oh and Don't forget the Moo fries. All were phenomenal. The wings were a tad smokey and perfectly crispy. The fries were amazing with the grilled onion making an oddly tasty addition to cheese fries. The bang bang shrimp were good but could have used a little more sauce. Beer and vodka were on point too. Our server Megan gave great service. 💯 A great spot for lunch or dinner. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20
The interior design & decor is great. Very trendy! Service was fine; not great, but not terrible. Food was sub-par. That was the consensus for all 4 dishes. It came out quickly, so we expected it to be hot. Everything was lukewarm, and anything fried was not crispy. Wings were overdone and tasted like they had been fried a second time to warm them up. After a $50 bill and the quality of the food, I wouldn't recommend this place to dine at. However, it seems like it would be a cute spot to grab a drink or two. I noticed a holiday cocktail menu at the table, and the drink descriptions sounded tasty. Loved the vibe, just super let down by the food. Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

Super good food! For just opening, the servers were awesome and everything was great. By far one of the better places in the area. The portion sizes are almost too generous. This place will definitely be on our list of regular places to eat at. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30

Thoroughly disappointed with this place. The menu is very deceiving, as all of the plates sound good and given the prices, led us to believe the portions would be generous. When the meal came out, the portions were quite underwhelming. The Mac skillet was extremely small given a $16 price tag. Additionally, the pulled pork and the amount of barbecue sauce on it overpowered the rest of the food. The chicken fried chicken was pretty dry and tough. Side portions were also very small. Moo fries tasted like frozen fries that had cheap cheese sauce on top. Also fairly certain their matched potatoes were made from an instant mashed potato box. Menu also claims they charge a 3.99% fee for credit card transactions, however I saw a reply from the restaurant to one review here that this pointed out and the restaurant itself claimed there is no credit card fee so there’s definitely some sort of misunderstanding going on with regards to that. Their mojito was very heavy on the rum and club soda, so not very good either. Overall, atmosphere and service was fine, however food quality and quantity is nowhere near worth the prices. We stopped in for lunch. They were pretty steady but we got seated quickly. We ordered the wings and they were so good. It was a little loud but to be expected when it’s Football Sunday. Our waitress was polite and attentive. She even gave recommendations when we asked since it was our first time. We will definitely be back!
