Intial impression was very positive. Parking was easy to find. We met with the receptionist, picked our cat treats & drinks, and headed upstairs.
There was a group of 5 already present, but there was enough room for our group of 3 to settle in easily. The cats were adorable, well-behaved, and appeared healthy. Our drinks took a while to arrive, but were delicious.
However, another group of 5 soon arrived. At this point, things were getting a bit cramped, but not absurdly so... Until another group arrived. And another.
In total, we counted 24 people shoved into 2 connected rooms, with the majority of cats & people in one room. Some cats were visibly stressed, and I noticed both kittens hissing & swiping at other cats on separate occasions. As a cat owner myself, it did not seem like the kittens were being playful.
Despite half the people present being children or teenagers, no staff members were present to make sure everyone was following the (rather simple) rules. It seemed there was only one staff member, who was responsible for everything, and seemed to have a lot to manage.
I have been to another cat cafe prior, which was a much bigger place with less customers, more staff, and more space for the cats to escape to, so I was very disappointed by this experience. I will not be returning.
