at weekends, you can't find a place on the rooftop unless you have a reservation or you have to wait.
Updte : After 2 years of drop , the menu is updated , very good, and delicious varieties , quality is back to be excellent

We came to Uptown Canteen because our great experiences at Uptown Dbayeh and its great ratings.
The makanek sausages were by far the best we've ever had: the flavor and the seasonings paired with the pomegranate molasses were absolutely delicious.
The salad was also excellent.
The only drawback were the chicken fajitas in which multiple chicken breast pieces were chewy and had cartilage or blood vessels in them. At first it was ok but after aeating half the plate we asked to speak to the manager. What he then did was amazing: he apologized for our experience and gave us another portion instead. And when we got the bill, our dessert was on the house.
Now that's great customer service and high-quality management. Thank you sir for your humility and generosity.
The dessert was also highly satisfying.
Would definitely recommend again.
Canteen was not at all what I expected but I loved it! The atmosphere is great, and I'm in love with their seating. It's large enough for large groups or to spread out your stuff to work while eating!

Great place in Jbeil to have lunch in a nice ambiance! They serve a variety of Lebanese and International dishes, and they have both indoor and outdoor areas, in addition to a playground for kids to enjoy. Affordable prices and great service!
We were there yesterday for lunch. The place is big and the first floor has a play space which is a hit with kids. We ordered penne Arabiata ( pasta was vastly overcooked and lacking salt), chicken quesadillas ( my daughter didn’t like the cheese in it at all and didn’t finish it) hummus and batata harra ( both passable) and chicken tawouk ( also just average). Overall it was a disappointing meal. The service was pleasant though. We love uptown in Dbayeh and if this is also their outlet, they really should improve.

Excellent place for friends gathering. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Has indoor playground for kids. We sat on the terrace providing a nice view on the sea and old jbeil. Staff is friendly. Shisha lovers will appreciate the service and the smoke. Backgammon players would have the chance to demonstrate their skills. Menu offers many options and prices are quite fair for the portion size. Would definitely recommend.
First things first, the food in canteen is phenomenal. I will most definitely go for another visit to try new items from the menu. Just not on a Saturday night.
However, my main issue in the place was the quality of service. I had a reservation but upon our arrival we found out that we did not have a table. Instead, we had to wait for 5 minutes so they can "create" a table for us in a space where normally there isn't. As for the service itself, you would think that they're overstaffed but the service felt like the opposite actually. I understand you'd overwhelmed with a full restaurant but, also, should be prepared for that eventuality.
As for the ambiance, well since it is winter, it is highly advisable that you do not have an issue with smoking or second hand smoking.
I really would love to visit again and will do it. But as mentioned earlier I believe it'll only happen during week days.
