We had a delightful experience at "Calheta Green" in Madeira! The beef skewers and cheese board, along with the homemade french fries, were exceptional. The mixed salad was incredibly flavorful, and the service was excellent. A perfect score for cleanliness, especially in the restroom. The restaurant is clean and elegant, it has pleasant interior and cozy, unique atmosphere. You can sit inside and watch your food being prepared or outside looking at beautiful view. The food was tasty and portions were big. The meat is very good quality and well prepared. Staff was very nice, helpful and English-speaking. We had a lovely lunch here. It’s quite far up the mountain so wasn’t massively busy. It was modern and spacious and very cool on a hot day. Only one lady was serving so it was very laid back but we were in no rush. All our food was excellent including the deserts they offer. The food was good it could have been a four star just some basic seasoning on top of our food before we would put on it would have been great. But hey, don’t let my criticism be a point to avoid this place. The ambiance, service and views are brilliant. I just like to have food the way a restaurant intends it to be. Their portions/prices and presentation in the restaurant are lovely and very entertaining. The takeaway we had (see picture) looks better than on the pic. We stopped after we finished our Levada walk, and we were very happy with our decision. The creamy vegetables soup was the best we had on the island, and the beef and chicken skewers - were divine! Service was really great, and also the view from the balcony. Very highly recommended! (if you do PR6 and finish near Calheta hwy, the restaurant is not far). This place is amazing. OK, you need to make a bit of an effort to get there but it's a gorgeous restaurant with a great view. The staff were very friendly and the food was even better! Quite a simple menu (that's a good thing) with good ingredients cooked with love. They make delicious meat skewers which are cooked inside the restaurant over a real wood fire. Spotlessly clean and very good value. Make the effort to find the place, you will not be disappointed!
