Caught in the rain and Bica was busy. Waited five minutes and the owner (not happy with our wait time) kindly moved a table for us from the deck to under the main cover. Food arrived in minutes. Bacon, cheese and egg sandwiches for kids (looked immense and I would choose next time), Bica Omelette (under seasoned but I’d rather that than over…easy to add salt), and the smashed avo (only one toast and one egg so not for the hungry). Bread all made on site and was great. Recommend if you need a quick bite. Really gives a customer focused vibe. It's your home away from home. Fabulous food and the owners are wonderful hosts. Their chocolate milkshake is to die for! Also pet friendly which is an added bonus! Service Dine in Meal type Brunch Price per person R 100–150 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Pastel De Nata
Visited for lunch with my family. Service was very slow. Waiters fielding many complaints from neighboring tables - management refused to leave back-of-house to assist - this nearly drove the waitress to tears. When the food eventually arrived, pregos were cold and steak overcooked. Manager witnessed a spill at the table commented on it and walked away, no offer to assist, clean, or of servettes. Disappointing, especially as the flavor of the food was good. Feel sorry for the waitresses trying their best to prop up poorly run kitchen and lax management. I’ve eaten here multiple times for lunch. The food is always EXCELLENT and the staff and waiters are always very friendly and timely. Every time I go have gone has been a good experience. This is the only Portuguese place in Durban that has the actual flavour I’m use to finding in my favourite Portuguese spots in Joburg. I would definitely recommend the pregos, trinchado and for dessert their custard slices or pasteis de nata. What an amazing gem. We had our annual sisters retreat and stayed at La Ballitto and due to unscheduled electricity outages we were in desperate need for coffee. I phoned them at 6.10 and explained our situation and they told us we can come over immediately. Had great coffee and breakfast before their official opening hours. Staff are all very friendly and the food were freshly prepared. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person R 100–150 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Cafe Bica is a hidden gem. I’ve been on the hunt for an authentic and flavourful prego in Durban for many months. I stumbled across Cafe Bica and loved the modern, alternative style so we decided to have pregos. The flavour was unbelievable! The steak was tender, the bread was fresh and the chips were crispy and salty. This cafe is worth the visit!
