This 3-star review is based on expectations missed. When I drop $150 on a meal (2 entrees, 1 beer, 1 wine, 1 key lime pie), I want it to be something special. My experience at Bud and Alley's was 'perfunctory' at best. Maybe I just need to change my expectations on what a $150 meal should deliver. We were promptly seated (without a reservation), the room is delightful: clean, open, not too loud. The server was quick to bring water, take our drink order and suggest specials. My wife and I both ordered fish entrees - my grilled fish ($40 - smallish portion) was nicely prepared, and served on a bed of rice/succotash; my wife's whole broiled snapper looked gorgeous as it was served, but the fish was woefully undercooked. By the time my wife had found the undercooked portion she had already eaten a third of the fish and felt uncomfortable sending it back - no server ever came over to ask how we were enjoying our meal and if we needed anything. As we were finishing the server promptly removed our plates and dropped a dessert menu on the table - the Key Lime pie was delicious. Bottom line - the food here is not bad, we've eaten here 3-4 times in the past and enjoyed many items on the (more expansive and less expensive) lunch menu. The service was prompt, but not solicitous and ultimately this was the type of dining experience I would expect at a $50 restaurant. Maybe I'm a delusional cheapskate, but I want a $150 meal to feel sort of special and there was really nothing about this meal that felt special. It’s not our first time to enjoy their breathtaking views and delectable crab cakes. This time, we chose this spot for our grand family New Year’s Eve lunch. I was enjoying my family moments so much that I forgot to focus on food reviews, so please pardon the quality of my pictures. However, I did capture a video to share the atmosphere – the music, aperol spritz, and the mesmerizing ocean views. Speaking of the food, I opted for the crab cakes supplemented with sweet potato fries – a delightful combination! Our table also indulged in cheese dip, roasted salmon with green lentils, and seafood gumbo. Without a doubt, I’ll be returning for those crab cakes on my next visit. My wife and I had lunch here and we loved it! It has an incredible view of the Gulf from the roof top from which we were able to see dolphins swimming! I had the Mahi Ruben for lunch and it was very good! I just wish they had regular fries on the menu to go with the sandwich! I highly suggest this restaurant if you’re ever in Seaside! Bud & Alleys, a coastal gem, exceeded our expectations. We arrived during happy hour, and to our delight, they graciously allowed us to linger until they started serving the dinner menu. This flexibility added a personal touch to our dining experience, setting the stage for an evening to remember. The highlight of Bud & Alleys is undoubtedly the breathtaking view of the water. We were fortunate enough to witness a stunning sunset that painted the sky with hues of orange and pink. The outdoor seating provides an unobstructed view, creating a serene atmosphere that complements the coastal charm of the restaurant. For those planning to visit, I highly recommend arriving early. While waiting for a table, you can soak in the gorgeous surroundings and sip on their delightful cocktails. The wait may be a bit lengthy, but the scenic views make it well worth the patience. Moving on to the culinary experience, the gulf shrimp stole the show. Cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor, it was a delightful start to our meal. The freshness of the seafood was evident, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients. The mahi mahi, our main course, continued the culinary excellence. Grilled to perfection, each bite was a testament to the chef's skill. The dish was well-balanced, allowing the natural flavors of the fish to shine. It's evident that the kitchen takes pride in delivering dishes that showcase the local seafood with finesse. Bud & Alleys offers a memorable dining experience with its stunning views, fresh seafood, and inviting atmosphere - recommending it for those seeking a picturesque setting and a taste of the Gulf's culinary delights. This is a nice restaurant and bar located right on the beach. If you can get a seat upstairs, do that for sure. You get a great view of the ocean, beach and sunsets each evening. The food and service was great. I had the gumbo with bread and my wife had the Gulf Coast shrimp. Both dishes were great. They also have a full service bar if you are looking for drinks. They also have many tv's so you can enjoy the game while eating and drinking. Definitely give this place a try.
