See this fish? A total carnage. It was fried so much, it lost all meat and flavor. This food was the worst thing anybody ever set in front of me while in Sri Lanka. And the “plain rice” only underlined this “plain” meal. Oh and I almost forgot…they will refuse to make you Rice and Curry, simply because seafood is more expensive so you pay more. We had a delicious dinner - great grilled fish, prawns and deviled fish with vegetables. The chips were excellent. There was live drumming and our kids played carrom with the owners' kids. I visited Athenas during the start of low season. They were very kind to me. I ordered the grilled fish with vegetable and rice. It was amazing! The food was so good. The fish was caught that day. The marinade/sauce on the fish was super tasty. For this meal and a soda water I paid around 6 euros. If I was here for more than 1 night I would have definitely returned. Overrated!! No rice and curry available. Fish was fried to dust… no seasoning, no flavor… the veg roti were ok, but very little veg. Definitely not worth more than two starts. There are a million better places to eat!! Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

The food at Athena was delicious (even the kids loved their meals!!), and the family who run the restaurant are completely charming. Our kids played carrom with their boys and their son played drums while we ate which was really impressive. Highly recommend! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Absolutely amazing. The seafood was fresh and tasted delicious. The service was quick and welcoming, and our waiter was so lovely to talk to. The price was considerably cheap compared to other restaurants in the area and the portion sizes were huge. It is only a two minute walk from Goyambokka beach so it is definitely worth the visit.
