We were very scared to visit this restaurant after reading so many negative comments. However, the food and service were not that bad. I think the key to the heart of the owner is to behave and not to provoke. Be polite, and he will treat you good. The prices are somewhat high, but within the standard range for Seychelles. Violent and aggressive owner who doesn't deserve business from anyone. The cafe was shut when we were there, but there is a public right-of-way through the site to access the beach (not visible in the pictures, but the gate is open for public to pass through). On returning from the beach we paused at the top of the steps to put our shoes on, and the owner rushed out shouting and swearing and threatening to set his dogs on myself, wife and 2 year old son. According to him, shoes have to be put on on the beach... Whilst the cafe was shut at the time, I'm glad it was as it saved us having even worse experiences like others commenting here. The beach is beautiful and fun to visit though, so don't let this put you off going. Just don't bother stopping at the cafe; don't give this man any of your time or money, he deserves nothing. I pity him and wonder what sort of life he's had to make him like this... Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

We are a group of 4, just to come here for a simple lunch, and we all got scolded and cursed, just because one of use brought a pack of cigarettes and not even smoke. Plus our orders been cancelled from an owner who is high. Sorry, as a tourist and as a guess, this is sad. Service: 1

The beach is very nice, with white sand and palms. Is also possible to snorkeling. I put 2 stars for the restaurant because the price of the food it's crazier high and the quality isn't good at all. We went there only because the taxi driver took us at this restaurant for lunch. It's a really nice location but unfortunately is more expensive then 5 stars restaurant.

Got here by a local recommendation (Jude Fred - the best taxi driver in Mahe). The view is stunning and the curry dish is home made, local and not westernized.... Toda Raba from Israel 🇮🇱 ❤
I think the owner is the most unfriendly person at Mahé. Café was closed during our visit at Anse Soleil but you have to pass the property since it's the only way to the beach. As I put our bags on the stairs waiting for my girlfriend and our little one he came to me and asked me very rude what am I doing on HIS stairs. I explained him that I will be away in 2 minutes but he didn't care and insist on that I leave instantly. Whoa, even paradise got bad guys. Avoid this place (green house on the right) in any case should it be open again!

Perfect restaurant on the ⛱️. People are very nice and the food is excellent, surprises on the menu ;). We went twice and each time it was super good
We were warned not to go to this establishment by friends in the area - and we are so grateful. Just sitting on the beach we saw (and heard!) two sets of people experience terrible verbal abuse from the owner. We just want to save anyone thinking it may be an option to visit when at Anse Soleil to not go near it. Rather visit The Deck just a few hundred metres away. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
The food was good and our waiter was just fine - until I started to try to go to my car to get changed to swim. Then the infamous ‘owner’ came out of his house, stood facing me shaking with apparent anger for no reason. I asked him how I could help and he started shouting at me about getting changed near his house. He was shaking with anger and seemed keen for confrontation. I tried to be polite and deescalate the situation by walking away as he continued to scream at me. As per the other reviews this place is ok - unless you have a confrontation with the psychotic owner, in which case it can be somewhat confusing and scary. Go to the restaurant next door far better. We were warned in advanced by the Lonely Planet of the "gruff" service, but given the reaction of some commentators our expectations were either tempered because of this or Chez Julian has lightened up his act. We had lunch: kingfish steaks and a chicken curry served with rice, papaya relish and a tomato and onion salsa. Given the basic setup of the place (simple table and chairs, small kitchen shack and sand floor) we weren't expecting much but the food was tasty, freshly prepared and huge! Service was functional but prompt, which is more to be said than equivalent beach side cafes on Mahe (ahem Surfers ahem). Given the size of the place and the range of the menu I think you have to think before you order. Perhaps other reviewers were too used to the standards of the Four Seasons up the road.
