I haven’t had donuts like this since I was a child. I’m literally in my car in tears. Instantly brought back so many memories of my mom taking me and my sister to a small town bakery in Sheldon, Iowa. It was called the Prairie Queen Bakery (it’s been closed for years). And she’d let us each pick out our favorite donut and mine was always a ‘Honeymooner’ (called ‘Birds Eye’ here). I haven’t had one in decades, but it tasted just like I remember and brought back so many memories. Thank you for everything. Wonderful service and perfect donuts! Van Hemert's Dutch Oven Bakery is a wonderful place to have a nice lunch. We enjoyed our on the light side with soup and half a sandwich plus you get a cookie. There are many baked goods to temp you. Tried my first Dutch letter and I was in heaven! Love the almond flavor! Also my friend got the lemon windmill which was yummy too. They also have cookies and cupcakes. We both bought some bread too. Mine was day old but you sure could tell as I sampled both when I got home. You can't go wrong for fresh bread and delectable goodies plus a nice lunch too!
