A message on every paper serving placemat that says “your support o a 5 star review will help so much!”, I got the message, loud and clear.
We tried their “best seller” Margherita Pizza, it’s okay the best, — I was expecting hot pizza out of oven. Basil very fresh, more than plenty oil and salt in the dough, enough cheese to drawn you, by the time the pizza was on the table, it was basically barely warm pizza. Chatting with the waitress, who wasn’t interested in what we think, we were told they had dough and cheese in the oven for 8 minutes, then add tomatoes and basil on top, yeah unless tomatoes are baked all together with the dough, your pizza won’t be hot or even warm for long.
I like the atmosphere, almost reminds you of New York, kind of cozy, chef made effort to come out and chat with customers.

Came in a hour of closing before they closed at 2pm time and they were so delighted to serve me and provided great service. I loved the meatball sub so much! Very flavorful, tasty and filling. The side salad was also really good. The blackberry ricotta cheesecake was also worth the try! I really enjoyed everything from the no WiFi to the great service and quality of food. The meal was worth the visit and the service makes me want to return. Great menu item selection. I was visiting this area and this spot stood out to me. Thank you to everyone at The Grumpy Italian! Meatball Sandwich
Went for Sunday brunch and it was fantastic! The ham steak had rosemary on it which just made it top notch! Very friendly, the owner came out to talk with us and he is not grumpy at all! Nice little family-owned joint. Will be back for pizza soon!

Best meal I've
ordered from any restaurant is the Grumpy Calzone. We leave Iowa every winter to snowmobile in the mountains. Saratoga is where we go and this is the best place to eat!!
