HAIR IN FOOD AND FOOD POISONING ALERT!! When we ate here the two appetizers we had were good. When my fiancée got her main course, it had a little wad of hair in it. They took it back and made her another, which came out fine. My main course didn't taste great but I just thought it wasn't for my palette and didn't bother to say anything (not their fault if I don't like something). For the next several hours it didn't sit well in my stomach. As I'm writing this I'm dealing with simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea. Perhaps the hair in the food was a warning that the food was dangerous! Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2

Was so looking for to eating seafood, we thought the Fisherman Restaurant would provide that, we were wrong. The calamari was the worst we ever had, oily and soggy. We should have stop with that but no, we ordered lunch. Fish & fries & fish tacos. The fish tacos were good. The crust on the fish was separating and there was oil running off the fish in the plate. We were members of a party of 20 with reservations for 4:30 pm. Synopsis: 1) Concierge pointed out the table. We seated ourselves. 2) The tables for 20 were set up in a horseshoe. The chairs were side-by-side each seat touching the next. The chairbacks were so close to the wall behind that the only way in or out was for everyone to get up and move out...imagine cheap seats in a theater. 3) We ordered drinks and delivery of them was sporadic with the first arriving 20 minutes after ordering and the last ones arriving 30 minutes after the orders were placed. 4) Dinner orders were placed at 5:15 and like the drinks, the meals arrived sporadically starting at 6:30, nearly 2 hours after being seated and 1 hour and 15 minutes after ordering. 5) The meals were cold on delivery. 2 of us had Whole Belly Clams. We sent them back immediately and after 15 minutes new dinners arrived. 6) Without a doubt these were the worst I've ever had. They were nearly burnt and while it appeared to be a reasonable portion, I quickly realized that underneath the top layer of 8 or so clams there was nothing but clam crumbles from the bottom of the fryolator. Keep in mind this was a $30 entrée. My partner ordered the Coquille St Jacques with Arugula Salad ($33). It arrived barely warm with the arugula totally wilted and warm. The garlic mashed poatoes, (instant potatoes??) under the scallops were swimming in water. I suspect the dish was under warming lights for a time while the other 18 meals were prepared, hence the severe wilt. 7) At no point did the wait staff (1 person for 20 diners) ever return to check on us or the meals. I suspect because they knew the high level of dissatisfaction. In summary: Unless you enjoy extremely poor quality food, service and atmosphere, at well above average prices for this type of fare in this locale, avoid Fisherman's Restaurant in Groton Long Point, CT "like the plague".
