The best seafood we have tried so far while in Vicksburg. Our server, Christian, was very attentive and friendly, which is why we gave her a really nice tip. Here’s what we ordered: Apps: Calamari for me and crab cakes for my husband. Very good, especially the calamari. It’s very rare to find a tender, melt-in-your-mouth fried calamari, and we’ve tried them everywhere, including Italy. I could come back to this everyday. Drinks: Crabberry Margarita and Southern Pecan Beer. Both amazing! Main entree: Surf & Turf. Beef cooked at the requested temp. Bayou Grouper. Again, fish cooked just right and the hollandaise sauce made the dish. To go: Peanut Butter Pie. While I appreciate it not being too sweet as most desserts are, the cream used was way too thick and artificial like it came from a tub used for commercial frosting, instead of light, airy cream in great pies. My least favorite of all. Rant: upon reviewing our receipt, I noticed a “Convenience Fee” of 3%!!!! What is that?!? I have never seen this ridiculous charge for a restaurant before. This left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, I would go back, but I would not be near the cream pies nor care about the convenience fee that inconveniences patrons. I enjoyed eating at the restaurant. The food was good and the service was ok. When we came in, the floor was really dirty. Thankfully, our waitress swept the mess up after getting our drink orders. There were two bartenders at the bar eating, laughing, and talking loud af. That was kind of annoying. We had had the crab cakes which I thought were basic but my sister loved them and they’re the reason she wants to go back. The silverware was dirty so we asked for plastic. We ordered the seafood pasta and shrimp tacos. They were both pretty good but the star of the night was the praline cheesecake. Omg, it was the best praline I’ve ever had.

A really great recommendation for lunch from the nice lady at the gate in the Historic Vicksburg National Military Park. Very busy restaurant and that’s always a good sign! Great Cajun cuisine. Highly recommend the blackened catfish and add a $10 bowl of cream sauce, you won’t regret it. Nice seating arrangements, friendly people all around. I saw a man on a walker coming for a quarter mile just to eat there. That says a lot. If you’re in the pies and fancy desserts, they have that too. Finally was able to enjoy Rusty’s Riverfront Grill! This place gets full super fast and I can see why. I enjoyed the Rusty’s House specialty which is blackened redfish with creamy sauce and crawfish tails. The choice of sides were great and the pickle chips were so crispy and the breading was on point. Our server, Ebony was beyond helpful and super sweet. The grouper included in the grouper salad had great seasoning that complimented the salad quite nicely. Although we didn’t make it to the dessert menu (all that food was so delicious we forgot to leave room in the tummy) the dessert displayed at the front look so delicious had we not been traveling we would have taken it to go. So so so so good. Ebony was excellent. The location by the river is nice and its at a quiet end of town with good parking. We were there at 11am on Saturday when they opened and I'm thankful we were because it got busy super quick. Fried green tomatoes, yes. The grouper with soft shell crab was amazing, fried perfectly crispy and super flaky fish. Still dreaming about the peanut butter pie. My husband had the blackened chicken and loved it. The creamed spinach and grits were drool-worthy. I can't say enough good things, definitely recommend. This is a really good restaurant. I ordered the special blackened Red Fish. It was fabulous. Cooked perfectly. Also, lots of local draft beers. The IPA I had was very good. I’m glad we picked this place while visiting Vicksburg National Military Park. The best local restaurant here as far as I’m concerned. UPDATE: I took my family for the first time and as a treat. We all enjoyed our meals; from the appetizers to the desserts. I gave them a try for the first time the other day. I got the shrimp and grits. Let me tell you, it was fine and a large enough portion for two to share. It had that great Cajun creole flare in it. I will be back.
