This is the best Mexican food I have tried in the Monterey peninsula area. First off, the service is incredibly fast! I walked in expecting to pick up my food from the counter, but they bring it to your seat. Nice touch! There is a free salsa bar with high quality options and some tortilla chips. The environment is exactly what you'd expect from a laid-back Mexican restaurant. Every item I have had here has been delicious. The two standout items for me are their Quesabirria Plate and their Chile Verde Enchiladas. Both are the best of class that I've tried. The aguas frescas here are fresh and delicious. Almost always get the shrimp tacos: loaded with shrimp and great flavors in the slaw, topped with hot sauce. Only once or twice, the shrimp amount seemed small. Carne asada, lengua, and chorizo tacos are OK. Once got the Super Taco—BIG REGRET. Regular taco loaded with mostly sour cream, lettuce, and a bland puree of guacamole (I prefer chunky guacamole where you can also see the ingredients in it). I pointed out that they had forgotten the guacamole. They were very fast and polite in adding the guacamole but all the extra ingredients did not make the taco taste better, so I just paid more to make the taco taste like less meat. We ordered the "super chicken quesadilla." The chicken was tender and delicious, but the portion size was too small for the price ($11). The quesadilla was pretty much stuffed with lettuce instead of chicken. I've been to other Mexican restaurants where the quesadillas (same price) were so stuffed with meat that I couldn't even finish them.
