The pork belly is fabulous! & The breaded chicken was the best chicken I have tasted and we loved the ceaser salad. We will be back, it will be a little while, maybe next year because it is pricey. As Ashlanders, we've been frequently disappointed by local dining establishments, which never seem to deliver. Happily, we can give a hearty thumbs up to Hearsay, where we've dined thrice in the last six months or so. Food preparation is excellent, with no misses from appetizers to dessert. Service is gracious; a bit on the slow side, but gives time to relax and enjoy the company and appreciate the comfortable, attractive, and quiet retro atmosphere of the place. Beautiful space, lovely music, excellent cocktails (Virginia's old fashioned was exceptional) and a top 5 hamburger, great flavors. Ordered medium and it came medium rare, not complaining but if you are someone who likes it more done you might want to order it "extra well done". BTW, the piano volume was perfect, easy to talk at our table but also clearly audible. If you are in Ashland, OR, come here for a fantastic meal! Cocktails, starters, entrees, and ambiance. We had the clam linguini, roasted duck, and the hamburger. The good: food was good. Drinks were fun. Wait staff was exceptional. If you like piano, sit in the dining area. If like to talk and hear sit in the bar area. The pork belly appetizer was my favorite! The bad: one in our party thought their scallops were underdone. The BIG problem and why this place is really 4.5 stars, you smell like food when you leave. We came in for appetizers on New Years Eve and were blown away by this place. Decorated mostly Art Deco, the atmosphere was lively and fun. Lola was our server and was friendly and helpful. I had Chicken Liver Pate on crispy toasted bread and my better half had a whipped feta appetizer with persimmon pure and spiced nuts. She was over the moon. A delivery or two from the bar may have helped with that, of course. We will be coming back for a full blown dinner very soon. You need to try this place, really. Really.
