Our party of 5 was seated at our table at 6:40 and we ordered. At 7:30 our appetizers came. At 8:00pm, I asked if someone could check on our food and was told it would be 15 minutes. I asked to speak to the manager at 8:15pm when our food was not there but two other tables who had arrived after us had been served (one was a bigger party than us too). The waitress told me she would get the manager but that they were taking our food off the grill currently. At 8:30, the manager had still not come and neither had our food. It was not super busy either. We left and will not be coming back as we had to get our kid to bed. I am extremely disappointed in this experience as I had always heard such nice things about the Mauna Kea and this was my first time at their hotel. For a restaurant in a 5 star hotel, I would expect better service and communication. I realize that waitresses have no control over the kitchen staff, but the fact that the manager couldn’t even be bothered to come and speak with us speaks volumes about how this restaurant is being run.

What was meant to be a celebration of a milestone birthday was spent salvaging a disaster of a restaurant experience. It reminded me of the last time I ate at Buffalo Wild Wings. I very rarely post negative comments, but the food was such poor quality, being seated next to a giant television flashing in my face, and our table was right under a blinding flood light. Please try harder there are too many good restaurants on this island to ever come back.

Excellent place for our last night's dinner in Kona. The ambiance, alone, with it's cozy lighting, unmatched open view of the sunset and the gentle melody of soft live music, is unlike any place I have ever been. The service and food were wonderful, as well.

Hemos cenado allí y salimos muy decepcionados. Teníamos reserva a las 8pm. Llegamos dos minutos antes y nos atienden en la entrada. Nos piden que esperemos a un lado mientras acaban de preparar nuestra mesa. Mientras esperamos sientan al grupo que iba detrás nuestro (mismo número de personas) antes que nosotros, nos hacen esperar 10 minutos más. La mesa que estaban preparando resulta que estaba toda sucia y nos manchó la ropa que llevábamos (pantalones, faldas manchadas,…). Miramos y había noddles por el suelto también. Un desastre, no sé cómo se le puede llamar a eso preparar una mesa. Intentamos llamar la atención de un camarero para que nos cambiara la mesa. Fue imposible que nadie nos hiciera caso, por lo que me levanto y fui a la entrada a pedir el cambio. Cuando expliqué el problema me miraron mal a mi en vez de pedir disculpas. Nos cambiaron de mesa a una que estaba mejor. Los platos que pedimos estaban bien, los cócteles no tanto… durante toda la noche fue difícil conseguir que el camarero nos hiciera caso para poder pedir y luego todos los platos llegaron mucho más tarde. Teníamos mesa reservada a las 8pm, llegamos un poco antes y no pudimos empezar a cenar hasta más tarde de las 9,15pm manchadas y sin ninguna disculpa. Pedimos si tenían algo para poder quitar las manchas en la ropa y no nos hicieron caso. A quien se plantee ir, le recomiendo que busque en otro sitio que tendrá mejor experiencia.

My wife and I enjoyed our experience at the restaurant. We loved the atmosphere and the service was excellent. We made a reservation so we didn't have to wait long to be seated. It sounded like without a reservation was close to an hour wait. Our drinks and food came out quickly and everything was good. Drinks were expensive, but tasted great.
