Perfect location overlooking the harbor. Amazing service. Beer and cocktails were good. Food was both hit and miss. The fish soup was my favorite. It gave me the umami experience which I really loved. My duck was cooked perfectly and I loved the sauce except from the vegetables that I found a bit boring. My partner’s fish was a bit bland and same as my vegetables. But overall it wasn’t a bad experience. We encourage everyone to still give it a try as they tend to change the menu. But I hope they keep the fish soup as it was the highlight of our visit. My experience at XL Diner was truly exceptional. The stunning seaside location, delicious food and welcoming staff were all part of what made it a perfect evening. The staff's exceptional hospitality added to the restaurant's inviting atmosphere and the food was an exquisite delight. The dishes were not only beautifully presented but also burst with an explosion of flavors in every bite. I have been to Ålesund a couple of times before, but I have missed the opportunity to dine at XL Diner. Don't do the same mistake! I wen't alone this time, and that is probably why they found a table for me. It was a Saturday evening, and I could sense it was going to be a busy night. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was calm and soothing - perhaps due to the Italian/Spanish musical classics playing in the background. I had not heard of this place before I arrived, but I read a few reviews from earlier guests before deciding to order the "Klippfiskloin" (back loin of gran reserva clipfish) with a glass of white wine. The combination of Mediterranean flavours and the salty fish was amazing! And, you will not leave hungry! For desert, I had the Crème Brûlée, with a double espresso. Both to my tasting! I also want to salute the staff. They were forthcoming, not only to me but to the group of nine people who realised they had booked at a different restaurant. I highly recommend this place a visit - whether you go on your own, or with a party. We had three Bacalao dishes, all served to us at the same time. As the final Bacalao dish cooled before we could enjoy a serving, it is a tourist specialty. They forgot our wine. Nice setting, but service is secondary. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner

One of the best places to dine in Ålesund. Great view and atmosphere is good. Popular place so if you want one of the best tables book in before hand. A little on the expensive side but this is to be expected on a place like this.
