Well, this review is about 6 weeks overdue. Through a stroke of (unfortunate) luck, I fell and broke both my knee and elbow a week before my son was born. A work contact of my husband’s offered to bring food over for the week and THUS, we were introduced to Wooden Heart! We proceeded to have a delightful mix of pasta, burgers, lasagna, some kind of heavenly Thanksgiving inspired casserole of delight…along with the tiramisu…oh my! We vowed to get there in person as soon as we were ready to brave the world with our newborn. Last night we arrived with our 6 week in tow, and I was intent upon thanking whoever the mystery owner/chef was behind the magic. Well, we wound up being seated by the delightful owner Yvette, spouse to chef Ryan, who instantly made us feel welcome despite our nerves to be dining with a tiny, unpredictable human. Amazing mocktail delivered in a flash by bartender Katie, and the hot pastrami sandwich and burger were both simply GOURMET. Clearly, the care for which each dish is prepared is a reflection for the care they exhibit in service to their community. We will go back again and again, take friends and family, and recommend to all who visit near and far. Thank you to Yvette, Ryan, Katie, AND Cody…who introduced us. See you soon, maybe tonight!!) - Your neighbors

We are so lucky to have this gem in the heart of Dundee. The chef has created something for everyone with the freshest local ingredients and blow-your-mind pizza. Be sure to make a reservation so you don’t miss this as you’re passing through wine country.

Foraged Pizza
Definitely the best pork chop I’ve ever had. Tender, juicy and huge! The risotto is special as well with the truffle sauce. Beautiful peaceful ambience. A really great place to bring a date for fine dining and quiet conversation.

Unfortunately our experience was not a great one. 2 meals came out in a timely manner but 3rd was delayed by about 15 minutes. Our server was aloof at best, She appeared to have some kind of attitude. We were drinking water and weren’t even asked or offered refills on that. Atmosphere of restaurant was nice as usual. It is a good location and we want to support locally but prefer spending our hard earned money where it’s more appreciated.

Burrata Salad
I had a salad and the salad was not only fresh but the vegetables were clearly very carefully sourced. The tomatoes tasted like they were right out of a personally grown garden. The presentation was beautiful and it was the best salad dressing I’ve had.
Henry was our server and was very attentive and friendly. He really cared about our restaurant experience. We even met the chef who talked about how he made and sourced some of the food. The atmosphere is quiet and perfect for a relaxing night out. This is the perfect place to eat for your wine tasting excursions. If you want amazing service and high quality food I recommend The Wooden Heart.

Foraged Pizza
My friends were turned on to this place for possibly catering an upcoming family reunion, and I tagged along to taste and give feedback. Oh. My. God. The food we had was soooooo amazing. We ordered one pizza, and after we each had one bite immediately ordered another one. We had the Foraged and the Pork Belly. Both were spectacular! The flavors were amazing, and the crust had that perfect wood fired char. Check out their pizza oven and you will see they are working with the best equipment. I should add at this point the service was first class. Our server was amazing, and the other people working here were just as gracious. They have good beers and a good selection of wine as well. Bottom line? You should go here. Note they do have limited days and hours they are open as they get up and running. But if you’re reading this and trying to decide to come here or not, and they are open, put the phone down and navigate your way here.

We had their pizza at the Wine and Food Classic, and it went wonderfully with all the fantastic wines we had that night. Their crust is bubbly and soft with the right crunch and pull. Can’t go wrong with a good cheese pizza and theirs was good!
Edit: we just had the pleasure of taking part in their soft launch dinner. Again I am so glad we did! The menu was smaller for their soft launch but it was everything I hoped it would be. We had the pepperoni and sausage pizza along with their pasta. Both dishes were fantastic and flavorful. Our server Cate was lovely and friendly. The atmosphere and what they have done is stunning! Can’t wait to come back again and again!

We finally snuck over for a family dinner and had an amazing time. Dinner by the fire on a rainy fall day? What could be better?! The pizzas were out of this world fabulous, the salads (we ordered the cabbage and the stone fruit) were vibrant and so flavorful! Our server was an absolute delight and engaged with our children, making them and us feel so welcome in an elevated space. We highly recommend and cannot wait to eat our way through the menu.

Working with Chef Ryan and Yvette Clark of Wooden Heart Kitchen to plan and execute the food at our wedding was a dream. With their pre-existing partnership with our venue of Furioso Vineyards, they were our obvious choice. Our decision was solidified during the planning process when we were able to collaborate to create our perfect Pacific Northwest inspired menu. Locally sourced and seasonal ingredients combined with a wood fired kitchen made for the most decadent small bites, fresh salads, and tantalizing mains. From vineyard crostini's with balsamic grapes, to roasted golden beets and fresh peaches in a summer salad, to crispy wood planked salmon to highlight a few, no small detail went unnoticed and our wedding guests were left talking about the food the rest of the weekend. Ryan and Yvette are the perfect pair, combining culinary prowess, professionality, presentation and creativity. We trusted them with our vision and were blown away by the results. We walked into our wedding knowing that above all we wanted good food and good wine, Wooden Heart Kitchen provided us with so much more. The service was above and beyond, from our first to final tasting, to communication throughout the planning process, to the carefully curated team presenting passed appetizers and serving plated meals. We look forward to dining at their brick and mortar location for years to come. Thank you Yvette and Ryan for all the love you poured into our wedding. We’ll be thinking about the onion puree for years to come.
