10/10! Soooo delicious. I found them on ig and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I went on a Saturday evening and it was very crowded. A few people explained to us that its always busy but we were able to get seated within 30 minutes. We sat on the top floor where they have a bar. Its very tight but i can tell they are always busy. Our waitress was very attentive and quick. Our drinks and miso soup came fairly quick. I ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi and my bf got the shrimp fried rice. 10/10. We also got a few rolls. I cannot remember the names because we were hungry lol. But everything was so good. Definitely have to come back. They also gave us a complimentary cheesecake at the end which was so sweet. This is our family favorite japanese restaurant. We always go about twice a month. The food is awesome. We love sushi rice as it has tasted by itself. Sashimi comes with a wonderful premium grade and fresh. We never had bad experience with fish which is some of the restaurants may have like smell fishy or not fresh. Cheesecake on the house is the best and represent how kind of service. Really enjoy it everything and every time we spend there. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

I’ve eaten at Umi many times over the past few years. The food has always been great, never had a bad meal here. The sushi and hibachi are both amazing. In my opinion their hibachi meals are a good value for the portion and quality too. It can be very crowded sometimes and they tend to pack the place pretty tight. The reason I took away a star for the atmosphere is because their upstairs restroom could use some extra attention as far as cleaning and fixture updates. We love this place!! Hands down the best sushi place in Maryland. The ambience is great both indoor and on the outdoor patio, great service, unique cocktails, incredible sushi, and great presentation. We have been here a few times and have loved everything we’ve tried. This time we tried the Toro tower, Keto Kiss, Hollywood, and Ruby Toro rolls, along with the Beef Yaki Udon and everything was phenomenal. The food was delicious, the server was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was wonderful. I have tried many regular and special rolls. My favorite are American dream, Angry lobster, and Hollywood. Absolutely the best sushi I’ve had in Maryland. I would honestly say it is up to par or higher than Azumi. The quality of the fish is amazing and so fresh!!! We enjoyed the avocado shrimp bomb appetizer and the sashimi lunch is hands down delicious!!! Also, the way the fresh sushi was presented is so beautiful. The service and staff were super nice and welcoming. The bathroom was nice and clean as was the restaurant. We do not live in the area and have a bit of a drive, but it was so great that we will make a trip to eat here again and again! Our favorite restaurant for sushi! Thank you! Literally so good!! Very extensive menu with tons of options. Raw fish is good quality and delicious! I got the spicy crunchy salmon hand roll, green tea and a miso soup! Miso soup didn’t have much tofu in it but was packed w flavor! Green tea was delicious and woody. Their wasabi didn’t seem real but who cares it was still good! And very good ginger. Service was super quick and the staff were all extremely friendly helpful and timely! I sat upstairs as the bar. The place is pretty large in size so I can’t imagine wait times being bad! I went at 5pm on a Friday and there was no wait at all surprisingly for how good the food and service was. Parking is a bit tricky but there is a lot at the bottom of the hill just passed the little ellicot city train bridge ! Found this place on my way home from work one night and was pleasantly surprised. Great sushi, great presentation, fancy drinks and a nice atmosphere. Quality of ingredients is excellent, Chef's rolls are well thought out & tasty. Variety of menu options, accommodating different dietary restrictions or interests. Wait staff is more than friendly, attentive, & efficient. Atmosphere inside is cozy and clean. The back patio is perfectly aesthetic, making for a great date night or outing with friends or family. Front patio is lovely for an intimate outing! Service for outdoor seating areas exceeds expectations! On a more personal note, having moved to this area only recently & trying to find the perfect sushi spot - my family has succeeded with Umi sushi. They have affordable options and more high end food options, either way ordering carry out has been a breeze. Umi's thoughtfulness and care for their customers has made us feel at home. They have gone the extra mile to give us "on the house" dessert or rolls. We will typically leave a few extra minutes to park if ordering carryout, there are spots out front the restaurant that you can park if you intend to be in/out. On a day where we intend to dine in, we will park in the uphill lot behind EC Pop's (so long as they are closed & their neighboring salon, which usually both are for dinner hours).
