Came here and was greeted pretty well but, when the food came, it was a different story. I ordered ribs with sides of onion pellets, baked beans, coleslaw, and scallop potatoes. Initially, the ribs and fried onion pellets were good but, the coleslaw tasted really off and had a taste as if it had sat out all day (may not be the case but, tasted as such). The baked beans were overly sweet which took away the smoked bean flavor and the scalloped potato’s were not seasoned and bland (salt and pepper packets were no help). I asked the server if we could replace the two sides that were the worst (coleslaw and baked beans) and she said she needed to speak with the manager. She came back and told me they said no. I asked to speak with the manager. Another lady came mentioning that she was the co owner. The co owner was not willing to work with us on an exchange and was pretty rude about it. I let her know that we were new in town and wanted our first experience here to be a good one. She debated with me back and fourth about why I should just take the nasty food and that no other restaurant would swap. She said she needed to talk to her husband. She came back and rudely said she went ahead and refunded me (when a clear swap of those two items would’ve made my meal great). With this place being empty, you’d think that with the few customers (such as ourselves) and decent sized orders, you’d get good service as well as decent tasting food.
If you come here avoid the coleslaw, baked beans, and scallop potatoes. Also, if something does not taste good, please let them know so, that they understand, bad food is something that needs to be corrected for a better experience. Also hopefully the manager/ co owner can understand that asking for replacements is not being rude. So she doesn’t have to be offended or rude by the request.
One of the best BBQ places in the area! The hamburgers are amazing! Fried pickles and okra are great as well. I have had their brisket and pulled pork in the past, it was good as well. Definitely get your money's worth! Service was awesome as well.
