If there is a more cheerful person in Santa Barbara County than our server, Christina, I have yet to find her. We immediately connected over a shared history of moving about before settling into an appreciative life of snowy plover sightings and constant commutes on the American Riviera. Her beaming buoyancy was exactly the style of lilt and lift that our birthday dinner called for. In this case, a good personality paved the way for food in which love seemed to be the secret ingredient. We had entered with high hopes for the seafood--and the tempting items that awaited us did not disappoint. The lobster pique arrived with fresh herbs and succulent chunks of flesh bathed in a light, creamy cognac-scented broth. The steamed mussels were sweetly spiced with chorizo and fragrant with peppers. During our main course of crab legs and rib eye, served up with a baked potato that rivaled the titanic spuds of Idaho, we were lost in the delights of drawn butter and sizzling beef. For dessert, Christina surprised us by bringing out a blueberry crisp-inspired sundae lavished with swooping sashays of chocolate sauce. The restaurant itself was a playful mix of modern aesthetics and open-air valley forests. We had to dress warmly in order to enjoy the evening sunset and firepits in the outdoor area, but the emerging stars made braving the chill entirely worth it. Even better than the stargazing, we had the delight of grazing alongside a cyborg staff member! The service robot would zoom by occasionally with baskets of bread or heaps of dirty dishes, bound for a preprogrammed destination in its selfless act of waiting. All in all, everything from the extensive wine list to the locally sourced fish will thrill you to the gills at Willows. First time dining at Willows Chumash and it didn't disappoint..our server Marco was so nice and very helpful...we ordered the Seafood Jumbo Jackpot and it was fresh and delicious... Pork belly was not good. Oysters were decent, but I could not rate the rest of my meal because I never got it. After 2 hours of waiting we gave up. Very disappointing.
