Good prawns, catfish and fried chicken are the best dishes. You will be served tasty banana split, apple pie and ice cream sundaes. This place is known for delicious beer. It's nice to order great ice tea, lemonade or americano. Select between indoor and outdoor seating. Most visitors point out that employees are professional. Terrific service is something clients appreciate here. From the guests' point of view, prices are adequate. There is a spectacular atmosphere and cute decor at this bbq. Google gives it 4.2 so you can choose Beacon Drive-In to have a good time here.

Stopped here during long road trip. Wanted to visit someplace iconic. This does not disappoint. Husband ordered fried chicken. 4 pieces (1/2 a chicken) and 2 sides for $12.00! Loved the hushpoppers, which were hush puppies with jalapeño and pimento cheese . Plenty to choose from as long as you know it’s comfort food not health food. I used the bathroom and didn’t find it dirty. The people at the counter were friendly. I’m not sure what reviewers are complaining about. Yes, it’s not in a great part of town, but you aren’t buying real estate, you are eating a meal. Wish it was closer to home; it would be a fun place to visit again. I will start this review by saying I love "greasy spoon" diners. I want greasy and juice running down my elbows when I bite into a burger. I want French fries to absorb that day old oil they are fried in. And this is exactly what The Beacon Drive-in serves up. I ordered the 2 chicken breast meal that came with heaping helpings of fries and some of the best onion rings I have ever had. My husband ordered a burger with the same sides. The chicken was some of the best I have ever had. I don't know how they get all of that flavor into the perfectly cooked meat, but they do. I saw my husband wipe his arm so I know that his burger was juicy. This restaurant is about a 4-hour drive from our home and I would gladly make that drive again. We had the best experience. This place is rich in hostory and character. A true authentic experience. Everything from the menu to the order style and band for your buck. The food was delicious and the service was great. I would definitely recommend you visit this restaurant if you have the chance. This is a local place with lots of options and nostalgia in Spartanburg. The barbeque and burgers are good and you get so many fries and onion rings it is hard to eat them all. Give it a try if you are in the area. Oh, don't forget the dairy bar on the way out. Food, service, and atmosphere are the same as they were 40 years ago. The food may not appeal to everyone, and I wouldn't suggest it for daily consumption unless you've got your cardiologist on speed-dial, but it's an experience I always enjoy. The Beacon is a staple of Spartanburg/Sparkle City. I made a specific detour with my friend just to dine here again after many years. Although their famous greeter passed away, the whole of the place remains unchanged. For 8.99 I got fried steak, two eggs sunny side up, and more hash browns than I could finish. This is a great place, and historic, too! Built in '49, you can almost visualize the expansions. Well worth it for the food and a snapshot of Southern culture.
