I recently dined at this Michelin guide restaurant and unfortunately, the experience left me highly disappointed. The restaurant's reputation seems overvalued, as the food I received was mediocre at best. The dishes were noticeably oversalted and lacked a well-rounded flavor profile. On top of that, the pricing was quite steep for what was offered (130€ p.p. for the 8 course menu).
I found that the restaurant lacked the expected fine dining experience. The service was disappointing; when we inquired about the fish menu's main course, the waiter simply mentioned it was fish without providing any further details about the dish.
The Chef and his restaurant clearly on their way to the first Michelin star. Product quality with no compromise, creativity in combining tastes and textures, local twist, extensive wine list, friendly service. Value for the money and beyond.
We visited the restaurant for our final dinner in Piran & it was a truly memorable experience. We have dined in some great restaurants over the years including London, Cape Town and New York but this is right up there regarding high quality food and presentation. Thank you to Donata Krašek for her recommendation of Slovenian sparking wine & welcome into her restaurant.
The amuse-bouche was fantastic, with the head chef (Kristian Zule) taking extra time to create gluten free dishes and bread for one of our party. The sea bass was incredible too that was curated & expertly presented.
It was definitely our most expensive dinner in Slovenia, but worth every euro - keep up the great work!
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining at Stara gostilna with my friends, and it was an absolute delight! Although not all the ingredients were to my taste, every dish was truly delicious. The exquisite combination of flavors unveiled new tastes that were truly captivating.
The ambiance was absolutely enchanting, and we had the pleasure of sitting inside the terrace with glass walls. The romantic atmosphere added to the overall charm of the evening, making it an unforgettable experience.
However, there were only two small things that I didn't love. Firstly, the wait time between the first courses seemed longer than expected. But, to be fair, we were all famished, so it might have just been our hunger talking. Secondly, I really missed having a hanger for our coats, which made things a little awkward. But, as you can see, these minor issues hardly detracted from our overall experience.
In fact, I'm already daydreaming about my next visit! I can't wait to come back and savor the exquisite cuisine once again. So, a heartfelt thank you to the chef and the entire team for weaving together a perfect memory for me.

We had visited the restaurant for our final dinner in Piran. It was really a memorable experience. Amazing wine selection. Beautiful service. Probably the amuse bouche was the best part of our dinner.
I think some of the food is slightly over thought or complicated.
It was our most expensive dinner in Piran, but I did not mind it, worth the experience.

Amazing ambient, exquisite service and wine recommendation by a female waitress who I believe is the owner. Young chef presented every plate he prepared for us. We finished the evening with Macallan whisky, one of the numerous bottles of spirits they have on display. I am glad I spent the evening in Osteria Vecchia.
