One of my favorite local spots! The sweet tea fried chicken and the Steak with the cheese sauce over it are fantastic. The Brussels Sprouts are a must have, even if you don’t think you like Brussels sprouts you’ll be addicted to these. I’d be here weekly if it were more affordable, but it is an upscale restaurant and worth the price. The food was excellent. We had the pasta with chicken, and the tomatoes, onions and olive oil gave it a delicious flavor. We also had the chicken thigh/ leg with mac and cheese and collards which was also quite good. Definitely going back. Shrimp and grits was the best I've ever had. Apple thumper for dessert was to die for. Quiet, friendly atmosphere, I'll definitely go back. I gave the service four stars only because I was there for an hour. A good 20 minutes of that time was waiting to place my order. I think my server forgot about me but once I was able to place my order, things went very smoothly and I was ultimately very satisfied. My server was very good, but just a tad slow. It's a lovely place to eat. I was in the mood to drive, so I came from Charlotte. SOM is right on the corner with side street parking. It has the option to dine in or outside on the patio. The food selection was very nice, and the people were so friendly. They have a place to ain't at the bar or in the dining room. It was nice to escape the big city and enjoy the Southern Hospitality. They serve soft buttery biscuits with jelly while you want for your food. I had the Fried Green tomatoes with black-eyed pea relish (it might say a small plate, but it was big enough to be a complete meal). I took the rest home. Then I enjoyed the Country fried steak with mac and cheese and green beans (they have two options for green beans). It's a pleasant atmosphere and relatively busy. There was a consistent wait after I had arrived. Some were there for a party so reservations may be limited but available. Long story short... finally got a table one hour and 45 minutes later. Drinks great, appetizer great, entrée was meh. Ordered medium rare ribeye got medium, no flavor!!! Tip was added, and I would have left you more... They wanted us out of there. Was really looking for a fun evening with my friends after winery hopping. Within a single block, so many good choices! For burgers and pizza go to the Angry Troll. For full-on excellent upscale food come here. The shrimp and grits were awesome. Tomatos, sweet onions, spinich shrooms and a balanced sauce. My wife asked for a turkey version of the ruben and it was equally awesome. Bustling downtown so hang around a bit. Read the menu outside by the door and saw the brie with the caramel and apples that's what brought me inside. Can I just say I'm so glad because it was to die for. With that my husband had the blackened catfish with the grits and green beans, he said the catfish was fantastic Season perfectly I didn't try it I don't care for blackening but I did try the grits and green beans So delicious! I had the bacon quiche I am particular about my quiche so let me tell you if you're thinking about it Get it delicious 😋 with a salad as you can see by the pictures Nice size portions. I have nothing bad to say. On top of all this Bree was our server probably one of the best servers I've ever had. She was great at describing the dishes I had like five I wanted so she was very helpful in narrowing that down. Food was brought out timely our drinks never were empty outstanding service. Homey atmosphere, friendly servers, and delicious food. I had a cup of cheddar potato soup and for an entree, shrimp and grits (with NC yellow grits). The food was delicious! It was so much, however, that I didn't have time to try one of their delicious desserts. Next time! Had a lovely birthday brunch here. Indoor and outdoor seating. Staff equipped us with electronic "fly fans" which were not fully charged but a good idea. Delicious food and very reasonable prices. I loved my Crab Cake Benedict. Also biscuits came with the meal and were amazing. Attentive service. Will definitely come back. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
