15/10!! Went for brunch at Big Bad Breakfast and was lucky enough to be sat at Snackbar. Maggie and Trip were awesome and made us feel so welcomed, they shared the Snackbar menu and we decided to go back for dinner. Every single thing we ate and drank, and every employee we interacted with was top notch. Some of the best oysters we’ve ever had, the mushrooms and French onion soup were phenomenal and the whiskey sours were some of the best I’ve ever had. A creative blend of Southern and Indian with a nod to both cultures. Creative menu composition and an excellent drinks menu. We ate here our last evening in town and only wished they were open for lunch before we had to leave town. We will most certainly eat here again. We are moving back to Oxford full time after split time between her and the Birmingham area. B’ham has a dynamic food and restaurant scene. James Beard winners all over the area. What the don’t have is our Beard winners and their gift of innovavations of new and exciting flavor profiles Our server,Tara, was very attentive and her wealth of knowledge successfully paired all 4 of us with exactly why we wanted. Roasted root vegetable Chaat,Veal Marsala, Pork Shank and the Green Marsala chicken. Bonus was the Banana FosterChess pie. Couple that with a French Press coffee and it was the end of a perfect dinner with friends. Hungry for more? Dined this evening with 5 other people and can say that every single one of us absolutely loved our meals. We had appetizers that included oysters, fried olive balls and my personal favorite the fried okra chaat. Wow! Main courses consisted of swordfish, trout, beef cheeks, a shrimp dish, and mine which was steak and frites. It was cooked to perfection. Chef Bhatt never disappoints! And as good as the meal was, the service was equally wonderful. Our server was very knowledgeable with her suggestions and very attentive to all our needs.
